1080p without hardware?

I would like to be able to edit DVCPROHD 1080p in FCP 5.1 without a blackmagic or some equivalent card. I know my comp can handle small amounts of it. Trouble is, I don't have the codec. Does anyone know how to obtain it? I downloaded BlackMagic's codec package from their site but it doesn't include it. It only came with uncompressed 8-bit and 10-bit codecs.

Well, after much deliberation I figured it out. A video engineer at my school told me to capture everything using the DVCPROHD 1080i/50 codec, set the framerate to 23.98fps, and turn off field dominance. Doing so would apparently be the same as 1080p 23.98. Can anybody confirm this method?
