1080 for web...

hello,
I've tried searching the forum and have been trying myself to export my 24pA 1080 HVX200 film (19 min long) so that it will stream (or be downloaded) with ease from a website.

I've seen people on this forum post links to fims shot with those settings, and even ones on the HPX500 and it all loads within minutes for me.....

but when I checked my film, it was a whopping 12GB ! then I did a quicktime conversion/ and mp4 version and got it down to 500-ish MB, but it lost major quality...

so, my question is what is the best setting that someone has used to export their HD film for the web? (example: like those in the DVX fests that were shot on 1080, and still look darn good/not much artifacts from compression)

thanks a bunch.

The films in DVX fest are 50 mb.

NONE of them are streaming at 1080. Try somewhere between 720X404 or 480X270.

Use the LAN/INTRANET preset under the WEB settings in Compressor.

Or open the movie in Quicktime and select export for web.

Sometimes people put a 5 second clip of 1080 on the web or something.

But few do that. 1280X720 is large HD for the web. If you want that I would suggest streaming via Motionbox if you want to imbed it somewhere ($30/year for unlimited HD uploads) or uploading it to vimeo for free streaming HD.

Here's a sample of MOTION BOX quality
