Not sure why you would call this a 'publicity stunt' when clearly people have been harmed. The family members had cash + other valuables stolen from them... all during the middle of the night.
Seems like all you care about is dissing Red and not caring about the people involved in the incident. Who cares about the Red Epic when people's lives were involved in the thief?

fact is: I have been robbed in my house in the alps twice by these gangs, so I know a bit...fact is I got some of them in flagranti when they jumped out of my window head first and met the whole "family" the day after in court ;-)
fact is police oficers are forbidden to take these rewards in france or italy and if mr. red claims he only pays if the thieves are trialed and jailed ...theres a problem....so what is it? a pathetic move which is not applicable to European laws but maybe in Gods own country? dunno.....
nobody was hurt! no lives were at stake, only materialistic things were stolen.....calm down and worry about writing KHARMA correctly before thinking of mine

Well, the problem really comes down to this.. people get robbed and murdered everyday, but people started caring about their safety when a RED camera was involved? C'mon..

and the 100k $ are for what ? the traumatized family or the valiant cowboy who wrestles the pelican with the holy grail from the mobsters? I repeat: I find it pathetic and as such a bad move! He could offer a reward secretly but this? plus he obviously doesnt know he legal situation in Europe....why should he?

it's a reward for information or anything leading to an arrest, it's a very common thing when something of high sentimental value is stolen. I don't think it's for the police it's their job to catch the thief, the reward is just an attempt to do what they can to receive the camera back in tact as it is worth far more to them than the 58k price tag I assume as they were getting valuable feedback from the camera and mark.
why would anyone ever offer a reward to police and then make it public? makes no sense, this is in hopes someone might have info and instead of deciding to use the camera or rent it or buy it or whatever they will decide to go for the reward and report the person or where they saw the camera..... don't really know what your problem with that is ah well.
either way this is another case of people jumping to conclusions based on little facts and their own personal bias.

rogar-Love(DBG): As I said: I had these gangs in my house twice and did not get my cash back! Only the second time when I caught them myself I got passports-creditcards-cheques back the same day....the cash popped up next day in court when the fine was supposed to be paid after being sentenced...the courtroom door busts open and in walks a gypsie family, females all dressed up indian style and males in black suits, around 15 of them... and the boss pays with my german marks ( in Italy!!!!) and I say to the judge" Hey thats MY money" .....I never got it back )) local tax I call it...rogar-Dolar(DBG):read the offer from red.....these are mainly minors so they can not get arrested AND trialed....and even if they are over 18 they are free the next day .... you see I live there and deal with this very very regularly because I also make films about it that are broadcast regularly.

that's an assumption you don't know who did it so you can not say they were minors (or do you mean a minor offense?) for sure. If anything I think the arrested and trialed is an emotional reaction, jim is responding as himself, I don't think you can read into the specifics of what he said he just wants some justice. either way what does this speculation get us or do, nothing, and that's it for me.

This stolen equipment announcement could not have come at really a more opportune time for RED. Do I think its made up? Probably not, but it does a couple things. First, it allows them a ton of free press about the camera (not that they don't have enough), second, it also puts them in a position to where if they needed to push back the release dates, it is definitely something to blame it on and people would "understand". I could imagine something like "we got behind because of our efforts to find the missing camera, blah blah blah". Sentimental value? Ehh, ok, but you're going to make a lot more just like them supposedly in the near future. If it were really so important of a camera, they really should have not let that one out and made a few extras to go out. It got stolen, it would be grat to get back but hopefully it was insured and you move on. I'm sure it will pop up at some point. anyone that knows how to use that camera and is going to buy it will most likely be someone that knows whats going on, or they will look it up, see the press on the stolen camera in their area and hopefully report it.
