100a Asking price

Hello all,
Long time lurker, here. But now I have a slight dilemma, and what better place to ask for advice/help than here. So, here's the story.

A good friend of mine and I bought a DVX100a quite a while ago with the strongest intentions of making films together for the long run. Straight deal, 50-50 share on the camera. All was well for the past year or so. Until now.

We were chatting the other day when he informed me of the bad news. Unfortunately he has to move back home (1,500 miles away) for some family-related personal reasons... Not fun at all. He's going to be over there for a good year or two.

We both decided that it's in our best interests if the camera was not shipped back and forth, risking major damage. So, we decided that it would be a good idea if one of us bought out the other's share and it stayed with one of us.

What I ask all of you friendly and knowledgeable people on the board is "How much should we ask?" The camera has 57 hours and I'm sure the value has depreciated over time. What's the going rate of used DVX's right now? I just want to get a rough estimate before we make any drastic moves.

I searched through the Market-Place threads but most were packaged deals. Any help on the matter would be great! We're trying to make the best of the situation, and trying to figure out a good plan. Thanks everyone!

I would imagine that a fair asking price of a camera in that state, with that many hours, could yield $2300 dollars. Which would mean, one of you would have to pony up $1150 dollars. Not too bad really...

I'd say a little closer to $2500 - 2700 with that little hrs. like he said it's not really what could it sell for today right now in a quick sale but what's the depreciated value of that particular cam which is barely even used. IMO opinion anyway's

Yeah, that's about the rate I was thinking, possibly slightly cheaper actually. With the 100b and the HVX that were just released, I figured the asking price for the 100a would drop slightly because so many people seem to be selling their old gear, in order to afford the new cams. Oh well, we'll see.

Thanks for the help guys.
