100 and 100A in same short.

I know that this question has been probably been covered somewhere.

We're shooting a short film with these two cameras. What are the gotchas? I'm already planning on doing letterbox for both, but what else should I account for?

Or is this just a wrong idea.

You might want to do the letterbox afterward to give your self more flexibility. Just in case there was a difference between the two in terms of lineup of the letterbox.

Make sure the settings of the 100a match the 100. The 100a has a squeeze setting and also has another gamma curve as I recall(?) so you'd want to avoid these. 100a also has slower shutter speed modes.

The other gotcha will be sound. 100 will be off sync by 2 frame. Make sure to ID tapes so you know which camera it came from. Install the audio offset plugin and select those in clip bin and go to tools -> Offset audio

you should get the barry green dvx book and dvd.

he covers all the settings and tells you which ones are only in the dvx-100a and not in the 100.

then carefully go through the menus for both and make sure the 100a doesn't have anything set differently than the regular 100.
