$10 Wireless Mic Test

I did a quicky test on the Monoprice Wireless Microphone/Communicator that is talked about in the Cheap Directors Feed thread.

As it is basically an audio test I did not put any effort into the video.

Noise floor is quite high

Ceiling fan, workstation, air conditioner, and probably the fridge in the background, street noise outside. I really have no place to check out the noise floor of the mic itself. Actually, considering the price, it is a miracle it it works at all.

I intended to do a clap sync to check latency but forgot. It does not seem too far out of sync. Others have claimed it has a long delay. Looks like about two frames max.

Also my camcorders only have 16/48 sound.

All, in all, I am pretty happy with the things, probably even worth the $90-100 original price, certainly worth the $10 each I paid for them.

It's definitely electronic noise. It has a different, more even, consistent sound with more high end than things like fans and air conditioners. But, yeah, at $10 who would expect it wouldn't have a high noise floor. Okay for a hobbiest, but you'd be crazy as a professional to use it.

Ah, high end whinny noise? That explains why I didn't notice it. Old ears.

I am a hobbyist, wouldn't recommend it for a pro in any case. Although I do have one UHF wireless. Wanted these for when one was not enough.

I posted the test because no one else did (probably for good reason).
