10 month timelapse

Anybody know how to go about doing such a thing?

I was kinda hoping there would be an affordable turn-key sytem that will sit somewhere and snap photos a few times a day. Something waterproof, secure, and low-profile.

you will need to condsider things like day light savings times what time of day you want the pictures, general sunset times throughout the year and how it would play out from a sunny day to an overcat day. THe easiest way would be a cheap laptop hooked up to a camera. Make sure you figure out everything such as camera placement and making sure nothing will cause it to shift ect. This is the type of thing you should do tons of preplanning for before you waste 10 months of time.
 
yeah, i know what you mean about planning.
i should perhaps describe what i'm doing a bit more. i'm planning to document the demolition of a house and construction of a new house in it's place. i'd like to mount a camera to a stationary object (tree, lamp post). right now, i'm thinking of an enclosed board camera with a cable to an adjacent house that records to a time-lapse setup, either a time-lapse video recorder or laptop. but i feel like there's got to be an easier way.

i'm also looking into scouting cameras used for hunting. they run on AA batteries for up to twenty hours. thing is, they only fire when there is motion detected (which could be fine actually). you can also set them to pause for up to sixty minutes between instances of motion detection...

but, if anyone is familiar with another type of standalone system, i'd appreciate your input.

How about a cheap laptop running Canon capture program connected to second hand EOD-1D or something. You would have to run both from mains power, but this system could shoot continuously for over a month with more than enough resolution for HDTV. Set on Av or P auto it could handle all light situations automatically.
 
There was this link from a university project I think, that did the same thing you want to do. If only I can dig it up. It had info too.
