10 Great Film makers and their favorite movies

What the f--k? I like Dunham, but there's no way in hell she belongs on that list. I could literally name 10 other directors better suited...

Still, interesting to see the generational gap between filmmakers like Tarantino/Johnson and the older greats like Kubrick/Scorcese.

I always enjoy seeing lists like this. I have to agree though, the presence of Dunham is extremely bizzare. Nothing against her, but I would never call anyone that's only done one film a "great filmmaker". You need a full body of work before you can make a call like that.

I don't get the love of 8 1/2. I watched that and it was like watching a movie shot by a guy in college you hated, because he wore a beret and smoked underhandedly (but who was from somewhere in rural Minnesota).

ferrari.. lamborghini.. yugo
streep.. hanks.. kardashian
kubrick.. scorcese.. dunham

I looked up this Dunham person and I've never even heard of anything she's done. Damn, I'm old (and I'm only 10 years older than she is).

I find 8 1/2 to be a film that a lot of filmmakers love, probably partly due to it being a film about a filmmaker. Also it's avoidance of traditional structure while still remaining entertaining is something i think a lot of people wish they could emulate. It is ultimately a very strange movie though, and I admit that while I definitely enjoyed the experience, it didn't leave much of a lasting impression for me.

I think by including Dunham, they wanted to reach into the Millennial generation. Hokey and absurd, but that's probably what they had in mind.
