I just bought a DVX100A, got it two wednesdays ago, and on saturday morning while turning my back to pick up a bag it fell off a monopod. Fell straight forward only for me to hear a young child scream "yourcamerasgonnafaaaaaalll!" And crash! Fell right on the lens hood. The lens hood popped right off, as well as the focus ring. A plastic ring that holds the focus ring in place as well as the lens hood on broke into two pieces. I managed to take it all apart and put it back together, but I was unable to fix the focus ring back on. I had to shoot the rest of the weekend with automatic focus.
Everything seems to work fine (expect the manual focus), And it's quite depressing seeing how I saved for a very long time on a student budget, and borrowed money to buy the camera.
Should I send it into Panasonic to get it fixed? Are there any good places around Vancouver to fix it? Should I order the part and screw it on myself? I also need to clean the lens. In my distress to solve my problem I accidentally touched the side of the lens, and now there is a little finger print on the very edge. Anyways ... any info on fixing a DVX100A would be great.
I have to film in Toronto this weekend, I'm imagining I should just use it how it is, and fix it later. Thanks in advance!
