Hi Everyone,

Which export format is the best quality -- 10 bit uncompressed or ProRes 4444?

I have shot some footage on a very basic camera (a 4:2:0 17 mpbs AVCHD handycam).

Therefore, I am looking to export at the highest quality to bring out the colors. I was considering ProResHQ, however, since the bitrate is only 17, I realize exporting to either 10 bit or ProRes 4444 are my only choices. Please help me decide, thanks!

Regards
David

Technically you'd gain little by compressing to 4444 or Uncompressed because the footage is already very compressed in the camera itself- there's no way to uncompress that effect. ProRes standard should be more than enough to preserve what's there left in the signal. Of course- you don't say what your destination is. Ultimately it's going to be a web video or a DVD- right? That's your ultimate compression format.
