10 bit flat panel and deckling HDMI card for FCP monitoring

I am looking into true 10 bit monitoring for 1 to 1 true pixel display and REC 709 quality display but also minor color correction.
I wonder if anybody has any experience with this? I dont need anything bigger than 24" and dont want to spend more than 1k$
I intend to use blackmagic decklink with HDMI.
1st question: are the HDMI ports on the decklink true 10 bit 1.4 ? I found no info on their site.

My search has shown me that a lot of panels claim to be 10 bit but are 8 bit wich is upscaled to 10 bit which they call A-FRC
Then there are PVA and IPS panels.
2nd question: what sort of brands and models are people using in USA?

I don't think that there are any 10 bit screens in your price range. The cheapest I know is the Dreamcolor from HP.

That's not a broadcast monitor. That's a computer monitor with HDMI inputs. Not even close.

On a budget, Take a look at the Panasonic Vierra plasmas, and then use a capture card from AJA, Black Magic or Matrox to connect to your computer via SDI or HDMI.

Thanks a lot for your input! I am pretty unsure which route to take as you can see....I know the real stuff costs 2.5k and above but I dont intend to do
professional color correction. All I would like to find is a panel that gives me a better control of what I shoot, with HDMI input and a good colour range...
hopefully I can test some of them before I dump the cash...

I am so confused. You want the best monitoring set-up used by full time pros, with a wishfull budget of $1000, yet you dont intend to do pro color correction on it???
You also want the blackmagic Declink card with HDMI (decklink studio $695) which happens to have a proper HD-SDI connection for true 10 bit monitoring, yet you plan on using it with HDMI output???

I suggest you take one step at a time and invest into an entry level solution that will also suit your budget:
Matrox MXO2 mini($450) as the capture/monitor card; connected into a regular tv display. (Samsung or Panasonic tv upto 30", $300 most)

For the record, HDMI 1.4 can output a 10 bit signal. But consumer panels will usually be 6 bits or 8 bits. True 10 bit panels are definitely out of the the $1k price range.

I'd start with the dreamcolor. And add a bit more to the budget- 2K is really where it starts to get good.
