I was sort of surprised by Wham's entry, and then surprised they didn't include Boy George. As for replacement pranks, there are a few I like much better than the 80's videos... more interactive, if you know what I mean. I'm referring to the video that sets you up by explaining if you look close enough, you can see the ghost of a poor girl that either died, or killed herself. As you have your nose inches from the monitor, straining to see the paranormal evidence, a screaming face blasts you! There was a similar prank, only this one involved your utter concentration to try and beat a video game. As you are working hard to beat the level, a screaming ghost face suddenly appears! Why make 'em groan, when you can make 'em scream and crap themselves?

I think "Stand" by REM would work even better than Super Freak. At least with Rick James, there is a degree of coolness, no matter the level of "wtf???".
Stand is just irritating, on every level. Made even more so (if that were possible) by Michael's being allowed to exist in the same Universe as the rest of us.

I agree that Amy Grant is pretty attractive in that video despite the horrid fashion of the times. But why does that make her not a possibility?
I think the third Rick Roll candidate on MSNBC's list was Kylie Minogue. If that isn't ageless hotness, I don't know what is.

She's even hotter than Amy, so she is WAY not able to be used.
And crimeny man, she's only 40. I'm not sure "timeless" really applies yet.
