We shot a music video last weekend and we had one camera at 24pa and the other one, for one tape, at 24p. How should we capture this to edit everything all thogether??
Capture your 24p footage at normal 29.97 rate. Take these clips and import them into Cinema Tools to remove pulldown (reverse telecine).
Capture your 24pa footage using advance pulldown removal.
Import your cinema tools converted clips and edit in a 23.98 sequence since bot hsets will now be 23.98 frame rate.
or capture you 24p footage at normal 29.97 into a 29.97 timeline and do the same with the pa footage just don't click on the remove advanced pulldown box. so your footag with be 29.97
Unfortunately if you place your 24pa in a standard 29.97 timeline the cadence will be wrong. Any fast action would tend to stutter or strobe since there's essentially a duplicate frame every 5 frames instead of smoothly spread out in fields as 24p does.
24pa is designed to be shot with the intent of goign to 24fps (23.98) in post. 24p is shot as 23.98 but can be used directly out of the camera into a 29.97 sequence or it can be converted in 23.98 with cinema tools.
Cleanest results would be to covert them both into 23.98 as outlined above and edit in a 23.98 sequence.

is there a way i can bring my 24pa footage to work on a 29.97 time line? Is there a plugin or something i can use so i dont have to recapture everything.... or is it better for me to recapture my 24pa footage with the pulldown?? We are juste putting the final project on mini dv or beta cam ...
If you've already captured 24pa at 29.97 just select the clips in the bin and go to Tools > Remove Advanced Pulldown menu. You don't need to recapture. Make sure you create a 23.98 sequence to edit in.
