1/3" Lenses on 2/3" Cameras?

Is this possible? I know the other way around is. I see that 1/3" HD Lenses are a lot cheaper than 2/3" and was seeing if it was possible to mount them on cameras like the varicam and f900?
 
Even if you could mount it, you would end up with a mostly black frame with a small 1/3"-sized circle.of image in the center. You would have to be really, really into vignettes.
 
Flange focal distance is normally different between the two mounts (B4 and B3), if it takes the same mount, then chances are good that it might work, but make sure you have a return policy that allows it to go back. Otherwise, in general, no it will not work.
