1/24th vs. 1/48th

just wondering which shutter speed would be better for a shortfilm. sorry for being vague, but the default is 1/48th, but I wonder if there are any advantages to 1/24th?

1/24th: Good for low light, bad for fast action. Possibly even bad-ish for normal action, since it has more motion blur to it.

1/48th would be better because you wouldn't have to go through the menus to find 1/24th.

I've been wondering this myself. I've been shooting some things with 1/24 shutter (24p). And the result seems good to me, on a TV screen. A bit more filmic maybe? Probably would be more blur if I were to blow up this footage to a film print maybe? But for the stuff I'm shooting for DVD on an NTSC TV, I like the results.

I prefer 1/48 when I have enough light.
