I couldn't find the 'diy steadicam' thread - so apologies if this should be merged.

I made a DIY steadicam for my 550d for about £20. Some explanation and very rough footage here.

It definitely isn't as good-looking as a glidecam 2000 though!
 
Nice DIY.

The steadicam footage looks kind of like the POV of a drunk person. It takes out the jitters, which is the most important thing, but what's left in the test looks wobbly in an intoxicated way.

I don't mean any offense at all, it's actually pretty awesome.
 
Awesome. I just need to write a film about an alcoholic now!

The 'swaying' stuff in that video is mostly sorted now. I'll upload a new vid once I'm happy with the tweaks. It's a really delicate balancing game.
 
Yeah man, balancing can be brutal. I have a tough time balancing my Merlin, and that thing is meant to be balanced.
