FX3/FX30: FX30.. is this the answer!

I have been using the Sony app since it was called Content Browser Mobile long ago (it has been called Monitor and Control App for several years now). In fact, here is an old vlog from my YouTube channel about using it with the FX6. You can see, it worked even back then for me. But they have...

FX3/FX30: FX30.. is this the answer!

You are pretty much describing the FX6. AF, 10 bit log, won't overheat, has XLR, has ND. Now there be other things you want that it doesn't have or things you don't like about it, but by that description above, that is definitely the FX6. Or the C70 or C80 for that matter.

    How will Sony strike back?

Seeing as Canon has done it in RF mount, it seems like it is just a matter of time until Sony (or Tamron or Sigma since Sony actually allows third parties access to the Emount ecosystem) makes that lens in Sony Emount. It's obviously possible so.....I'd think it would be coming before long...

    How will Sony strike back?

It’s rumored to not be that big, heavy, or expensive. While I agree that in principle 24 would be better than 28 (200 would also be better than 135 on the long end) trade offs obviously have to be made. I very rarely need anything wider than 28. 28 is roughly equivalent to 18mm field of view...

    How will Sony strike back?

Not sure how many of you caught this, but apparently at IBC, Samyung showed their prototype of a native e-mount 28-135 F2.8 lens which could be quite interesting.

Has anyone removed Adobe CC completely from their PC?

I totally accept the fact that speed and efficiency in editing is even MORE important than rendering and output. I do have a lot of projects which want alternate versions, social media cuts and so on so I do a ton of outputting but still it’s true that efficiency in editing is more important...

Has anyone removed Adobe CC completely from their PC?

Around 5 times faster to render a 13 minute mini documentary for PBS and the Alaska State Ferry system. Multiple layers of 4k footage, graphics, titles, large still images with ‘Ken Burns’ style pan and zoom on them as well as 20-30 layers of audio for sound design. Took about 5 minutes to...

Has anyone removed Adobe CC completely from their PC?

Very good points. The codecs and specifics will make a difference. And the new Apple silicon chips are probably a big reason I have seen such a difference as the Max and Ultra chips have hardware encoders and decoders built in for h.264 and ProRes which are two of the most requested codecs...

Has anyone removed Adobe CC completely from their PC?

Almost exactly my story as well. After the FCP X disaster of an introduction, I switched from my beloved FCP 7 suite to Adobe everything. Used their creative suite for a few years until they moved to subscription only. Once they did that, I was done using them and switched back to FCP and...

Has anyone removed Adobe CC completely from their PC?

There are so many places where the speed of both FCP and Resolve is much faster than Adobe. Im not talking about stringing together a rough cut in the timeline because you know the keyboard shortcuts, but actually doing something like rendering out a 12 minute video from the timeline. That is...

Has anyone removed Adobe CC completely from their PC?

I do use Resolve for grading. Pretty good program.

Has anyone removed Adobe CC completely from their PC?

Exactly this! There is not a single subscription Adobe product that makes my workflow ‘faster’ (Resolve and FCP both are so much faster than Adobe I don’t even know how you say that with a straight face) or ‘more productive.’ And for the record, I too am a professional sharing my opinion on a...

Has anyone removed Adobe CC completely from their PC?

Yeah this is all an interesting point. Because if I were to be stupid enough to pay Adobe, it would cost me not only money, but time. Both FCP and Resolve utterly eat Adobe’s lunch for both speed and stability. I would not only be spending an utterly useless amount of money every month for...

Has anyone removed Adobe CC completely from their PC?

It’s not that I ‘can’t afford’ it. It’s that I choose not to waste money on it. I have not run across anything that I have not been able to do with the tools I have substituted for Adobe, in any client job in the last 15 years. And I have saved enough money from not subscribing to buy a Sony...

    NAB 2025

As a FX6 owner, I will say you are exactly right. That IS what I want, a Burano priced at 10k. Make it happen Sony! 🤣😂

Has anyone removed Adobe CC completely from their PC?

Yup, count me as another who has deleted everything Adobe from his computer despite being a professional. I too use the Affinity suite as well as Pixelmator Pro (due to its integration with Apple Motion.)

Ever get clients asking for stills as well as video?

Not really. I can’t navigate my way around a mirrorless camera and its mountain of menus (with still functions which I have no idea about what any of them do) to save my life. I always have to laugh when stills shooters criticize the FX6 for its ‘complicated Sony menu system.’ Fundamentally...

    'Dark Matter' on Apple TV

Just finished binging it. I liked it. Definitely liked the human element to a guy trying to get his family back. Also the actress who played Amanda was fantastic, really liked her performance. Glad to see it’s been picked up for a second season but kind of surprised as I thought the ending...
