    The state of Cinema

I think for cinema in general I mean relatively speaking it's a very young art form compared to literature, music, and art I just don't remember the last time I was completely geeked out on a movie or watched a movie that really thrilled me I spend a lot of time going back to the '70s and...

    The state of Cinema

Looks like Netflix is going to acquire Warner Brothers (Paramount is still in the chase). And The new Hollywood era is disappearing right before our eyes. It's looking sort of bleak.

    Pretty damn QUIET in here.......

I agree with both of these last takes I don't think I'm being nostalgic about this Trying to have genuine conversations regarding filmmaking or cinema in general is very difficult and unfulfilling with modern social media as mentioned, how it all just disappears into the void. I have this...

    Oppenheimer - who's seeing it?

I'm not a Nolan fan, and frankly, I don't get the hype. Of course, I come from a perspective of the New Hollywood (which is dying before our eyes). Interstellar was very, very good, but the rest of his body of work I can leave be. And Dunkirk? Horrible. And that score? Horrible. That...

    Filming in a classroom

I've always found cutaways to a second camera during documentaries distracting. I'm not talking about an establishing shot necessarily, but an entirely different angle of attack. I like the KEEP IT SIMPLE as if I'm sitting there across from them while they speak more pleasing.

Agree I like the second one much better. I have to find somewhere to put that file cabinet It's heavy with guns inside. And I need a new tripod as one of the seals broke and it won't stay vertical I've known this for some time. 😂

    Teaching myself lighting

I get really torn on this concept because oftentimes I hear DPs (Bradford Young for example) referring to lighting spaces, not faces

I just realized I'm shooting in a very low ISO Black magic Pocket 4K has native 400 and 3200 For low light I should be shooting at 3200? I'll try again tomorrow

I completely internalize the mood regarding cinematic lighting and how it relates to the picture and the frame But I think even if I said this was a family drama my lighting and grading would be much different than yours It's like comparing 28 days later to World War z Both are apocalyptic...
