In an case I don't think I understand how to get proper exposure with the 100A. I'm a pretty good photographer...

I saw the film last night and was blown away by the filming effects. I felt that I got a short course in creative camera work and effects. Simply wonderful.
I should mention that it is a great film re story, plot, etc.
Classic road trip by two great actors.
Ultimate 'guy flick'.

I have clips of steady dialogue and I need to make edits.
I find it to be difficult to make the edits at exactly
the correct point. Like I would want to get the edit at the end of a word or such.
I'm using PP 1.5.
What is the technique used to make the cuts with precision?

I'm very new to the DVX-100a
I'm trying to record and I get the following error message:
"External DV disconnect"
I don't have a clue as to what that means.
Can someone explain the message?
