I've not read all, but it seems that there is an answer here:
https://www.thepostprocess.com/2020/03/16/color-shift-fixes-from-davinci-resolve-to-mac-displays/
I noticed one strange thing...
The rendered file coming from DaVinci Resolve has not the same look if you open it in VLC or in Quicktime.
Actually, the VLC version corresponds to what you see on the DVR timeline. The rendered file with QuickTime looks wrong and washed out: less contrast, less...
Does not means that AF tracking does not work. If you put the AF window in "wide", i.e. to track an airplane, a bird, a race car or a runner the AF does a quite good job and is able to detect the object that is supposed to be of interest :)
Whatever the name you use to describe it, the ability to lock the AF in spot mode on an object (other than an eye) so that it can be tracked if it moves in the field does not work at all and even does not exist on the FX6. This feature exists on A7xx still cameras, on the FX3 and will exist on...
Got it.
Thanks Doug, very useful advices.
S-Log3 looks fine also for me. I've time to play with post processing. Currently my main issue is to adjust the white clip point during the capture (with the reg709 LUT for the display) and what's the best place for the location of the delog in the post...
Doug, I'm still at the beginning of the learning curve :)
In standard conditions (with no specific requirement regarding white balance, dynamics etc...) I'm happy with S-Cinetone. What are the very narrow circumstances you mention, and outside these circumstances what's wrong with S-Cinetone for...
With the FX6, in custom mode, if you want other specific looks than s-cinetone, it's possible to save them and use them like s-cinetone.
It's possible to use LUTs also in Cine EI, but in custom mode it does not work in the same way, all adjustments are usable...
I think the last DG DN Sigma lenses are on par with the GM Lenses.
This lens is quite "special". The design choices made by Sigma for this lens were made to get the best possible optical quality, with no compromise on size, weight, etc... The A7's with this lens look ridiculous ^^
Since the...
I checked again.
I have to admit that the AF is slower than with my other DG DN lenses, I mean, the time to switch from a short to a long distance. Maybe it's due to the weight of the glass to drive. This lens is not a pure DG DN lens, it's more an adaptation for the FE mount. But it works well...
Hello,
Is it the big 105/1.4 DG/FE ?
I have it, I just did a simple check on the FX6 because I use it mainly in photo.
Looked good for me, will check deeper
I tested the FX6 last week for an 'Urbex' job, for the first time. That's for me the hardest conditions for the IQ.
https://youtu.be/ur7GezH7RKE
The place was quite dark inside, to get a decent depth of field I had to use 12k8 in slog3. As usual, the goal was to keep the over illuminated areas...

Hi,
There is a good explanation of the speed boosters at the Metabones site.
https://www.metabones.com/assets/a/s...te%20Paper.pdf
Theorically, a speed booster is a focal reducer which allows to "concentrate" the light provided by a lens on a smaller surface, and therefore obtain a...
I agree with all the above and the fact that object tracking is more useful in photo than video, for different reasons (more resolution, highest quality requirements, less FPS ...)
There are also some old photos rules (1/3 rule ...) for which a decentered AF window capability is a plus. In...
The way I use in photo is maybe different in video.
- I select the small size box, place it in the middle of he frame
- I set the camera in continuous AF
- I move the camera so that the object to track is aligned with the the box
- I half press the shutter to activate AF
- From now, the box...
Yes, I was referring to object tracking or real time tracking. Check at 1'00:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bvn6t6laKXs
It's the same as eye tracking, but with any object after the object has been locked by the autofocus. It's usually used with a small window detection, not necessarily with...
About the FX6 and the EF lenses with Metabones.
I sold my Canon cameras some years ago, but still kept some Canon EF lenses and a Metabones IV some time: 17-40 F/4, 24-105 F/4, 70-200 F/2.8 and an old EF 35/1.4
The Iris management was working with all.
The AF was quite good with the 17-40...
I did a quite similar test as OnSet's one.
I took a 4k clip and generated a low res timeline in VGA format
Made some processing on this timeline (noise red, etc...) and checked what happens if I try to render a 4K output:
- From the VGA timeline, it was only possible to export in a VGA format
-...
I received today this mike:

Not expensive, but works fine with the FX6 (requires +48V ON) and fits well with the FX6 support (diameter 25mm)
That's fine as it is for me. I've to say, the FX6 and the possibilities of DaVinciResolve are far beyond my skills ;)
From technical standpoint, video is way way more interesting that photo :)
Thanks or the advice ! Actually, I've no big performance issues. The review works fine except in case of heavy NR. I was just wondering.
I'm even quite positively surprised by the export time, I was expecting something slower :)
I'm on a 2019 MB Pro i9 16G with a Radeon 5500M 4G. Did not tried...
