FX6: The Sony ILME-FX6V Owners Club

Oh before I buy one was there a consensus that the IDX SB-U98 battery worked fine on the FX6?

I seem to recall I used to use the FS7 with a Hoodman instead of the main shade so will do the same and report back on the Hoodman 350.

Any port in a storm, but yeah would not be my first choice.

Even Smallrig's prices have crept up but to be honest they are now genuinely innovating. Fact is I get why a company that builds in somewhere like the US or UK has to charge more with proper labour costs and insurance and without the economy scale, but plenty of them are trading on reputation...

Only exception is this, plus the 15mm rod adapter. https://cvp.com/product/zacuto_usa_z-qrsp Which is fantastic and lightweight. Agree about all the rest of it. Seems only Smallrig and Bright Tangerine are getting that people want to keep the rig small.

Interesting. So it clips on fine with no quirks or workarounds needed? In a couple of pages time I'm going to update the OP with a list of hints and tips compiled from contributions so far. That will definitely get mentioned.

I'm sure there's a forum sticky somewhere about how to do various things but in short you need to upload the pic to something like IMGUR or flickr and copy the image url in between the [img] tags.

You're going to have to host that image somewhere. Can't see nuffin.

Super cool. Would be great to be able to use thumbscrews for easy breakdown as the handle with no mount fits perfectly in my case!

That's a bit outside my comfort zone. Ask me how to direct an Instagram celebrity Sausage Dog onto a cinema seat for a Vue Cinema screening of Paw Patrol movie and I'm there. 3D printing is still witchcraft to me. Make 100 and sell them :)

Love those 3d printed caps! All sorts of innovative solutions happening. Also the best lens is the one you have on you. Would love to see how you modified your Rycote mount.

That's brilliant and well done for getting a gig, and a long term one at that during this insanity! 1st rule of Sony Camera club is remove the stupid mic mount. Agreed 100%. I've deleted my FB account after the last couple of years of their behaviour essentially trying to subvert democracy...

Ah right. Aside from asking for a firmware update not sure what you can do. Would be nice if pressing display toggled though display on/of with and without markers. I have my display set to as minimum settings as possible and can live with it.

Of course you do! :) I use the Sony monitor for waveform and log display and Atomos monitor for framing/guides/masks/lut checking/client casting an eye over the camera if we don't have a client monitor. Works perfectly. Been a while since my FS7 but I seem to recall guides being a separate...
