FX6: The Sony ILME-FX6V Owners Club

It's just a bit more awkward to get the ergonomics of being able to see the screen when trying to shoot from eye level and keep it stable. It is easier to shooting with the FX6 against the midriff but that angle is not for everyone.

FX6: The Sony ILME-FX6V Owners Club

FYI - the Crane 3s will fly the FX6 + 100-400 just fine (even though it is a telescoping lens). At it's shortest it will clear all thee axis. The lens motor is also strong enough for the zoom as well (though I'm not sure how "smooth" it is.... I'll post a short clip once I don't look...

FX6: The Sony ILME-FX6V Owners Club

The 100-400mm has arrived and it is even bigger than the 28-135 but still manageable (I've not had a chance to try it our properly yet however). One thing I am working on is the bag to hold it all. The Peak Design Travel 45L Backpack will take the FX6, 128-135, 100-400, 16-35 (on the cam)...

FX6: The Sony ILME-FX6V Owners Club

I think I'll grab the Sony 100-400 during the current promotions here in Oz, and then I'll have pretty much a full set with plenty of overlap: - 28-135 F4: Love the PZ. It has been my main lens to date but I found the 28mm was just not wide enough indoors and it is kind of "stands out / in your...

FX6: The Sony ILME-FX6V Owners Club

The new Tamron does look promising but all the reviews barely touch on it's use on a Video Cam like the FX6 (I found one that covered focus breathing for 2 sec!).... and absolutely no Sony 100-400 vs Tamron 150-500 comparison for video use.

I think you are right, I'm expecting they will rehouse the F2.8 24-70, and 70-200 --> the C line, like they did for the 16-35.

Thanks Doug, Probably not for me going down the adapter route (though I did read here that with that Canon focusing works when not using the 1.4). ...or I could just wait for the rest of the Mythical C line from Sony but given the pricing of the 16-35.....

Any recommendations for a super telephoto on the FX6? Say the Sony FE 100-400mm? I'd be interested in hearing how these still lens work in practice for getting some more reach than my 28-135. Thanks Nathan

So the SmallRig cable does not work, but I've just received the Zhiyun USB-C to 2.5mm cable LN-UCTRS25-B01 but you have to contact support to be able to purchase it (it is not listed on their web site). It sort of work for triggering Start/Stop recording from the smart handle but that is all...

Any suggestions for a backpack for the FX6 + 28-135 Lens? I've got the Peak Design 20L Everyday Backpack but it is just too small and awkward for this setup. Thanks Nathan

....or just glue a bit of thin dowel / extrusion across a hot shoe adapter to give you a level.

FX6: The Sony ILME-FX6V Owners Club

I might have a better FX6 screen hinge as I don't find it droops unless I add a loupe (and then only on some angles). Even then Alister Chapmans "cheat" of using a rubber band around the joint works.... but it tends to wear away and break eventually.

Yup, I was in a shed today with a Kiln in it looking a filming a firing. The Kiln was level (but they had to put an actual level on it to prove it to me) as the slab and hence the shed itself was on a slope. It was very very disorientating. Anyway, either the LCD Level or a bubble level will...

...and here is the OSD level indicator.

I find the little horizontal level indicator on the LCD screen not too bad. I did play with adding a simple spirit level bubble to the FX6 (both on the hot shoe and the back) at one point. Cheap, easy to apply and very visible. You get packs of them for next to nothing on e-bay in various sizes.

Other: Sony FX6 Master Class and review

It would be interesting to see how your Floyd Video would look like in HDR with that color managed workflow re-grade. If you are interested the key render settings are as follows (in addition to changing the Project Settings I listed above).

Other: Sony FX6 Master Class and review

Yup, having a lot of fun (and a steep learning curve both with shooting and editing). I really like the S&Q 1fps mode @ 360 degrees on High Base. You get lots of light. I need to try it on people at night and see how it comes out. On the editing side, I found this clip very informative esp...

FX6: The Sony ILME-FX6V Owners Club

FYI - the Crane 3S Pro just arrived, and first impressions are (with the extension arm in place): - Can fly the FX6 + Monitor + Top Handle + 28-135 Lens (but you need to take of the lens hood for clearance in you ever wanted to do a 360 - not sure why you want to take a shot of the inside of the...

FX6: The Sony ILME-FX6V Owners Club

I've ordered a Zhiyun-Tech CRANE 3S PRO and I'll update on how this one goes with the FX6. I'm hoping with the size and weight on the S3 Pro I may be able to fly the FX6 maxed out with Handle + Audio + the 28-135.

Just a bump to see if anyone is flying a the FX6 on a Gimbal, which one, and how well it works or otherwise. Thanks Nathan
