Ah, the educational b-roll! I've done a lot of this as well.
I second Doug's recommendation about bringing a 70-200. Classrooms can be very cluttered and busy and being able to isolate the viewers attention through a longer focal length with a shallow stop can be very helpful.
I also love...
DJI is really the only player in this market for easy, efficient and quality video capture.
Autel would certainly be another drone maker that appears to have good quality products, but they are also based out of China, they just happen to have a U.S. based subsidiary.
My advice, if you need...
There's always going to be cycles of people becoming nostalgic for the days of yesteryear. Fashion goes through cycles, trends come and go, etc.
There's been a resurgence in analog stills coming back, lots of younger people shooting on film. Also younger people buying old digital cameras like...
Yep, back in the day Tungsten was basically the only option. Then HMI's etc.
Nowadays most quality LED's will do the job for sure. I guess I should narrow down the ask. Anyone shooting high speed with modern LED's, and what's the common fixture they like to use for that?
My largest that I...
Yeah the Wave was actually a welcome addition to having another company trying to do high speed IMO outside of the Phantom. From what I understand it had its problems, but their more recent Ember camera seems to be pretty good as far as price to performance.
Again, from what I've read/heard...
Anyone on the forum have extensive experience lighting for high speed?
Probably talking 200 fps since that's the max that the Mini can hit. I could possibly get into RED V-Raptor frame rates as that seems to be the next best affordable option. Not dipping into Phantom territory yet.
I'm...
Ben does a good job here of articulating how I feel about AI, both in regards to its impact on high end Hollywood movies and ultimately how I feel it will impact what I do. I don't work on Hollywood movies, but the commentary still applies I think .
I think you're going to end up with an unusable, sticky mess. I'm not aware of any paints that will adhere to the fabric of a 5 in 1 reflector and maintain the flexibility of the 5 in 1 without cracking or ruining it in general.
I think this forum, or any forum, is what you make of it. If you (we) want more dialogue around XYZ topic, then post about that topic. Start the conversation, ask questions, provide feedback or insight for others, etc.
Be the change you want to see.
Great throwback and cool pics.
Charles, were the 5D and the 1DMKIV really that popular in Hollywood circles? I always thought they were more of an independent operator / small production company camera at the time.
Tough call for sure. Lots of good advice in this thread.
I'd second (or third or fourth) the opinion that if you don't have a bunch of other clients right now chomping at the bit to work with you then it may not be an ideal time to raise rates.
If you know there's going to be too much push...
"No rig" vs. "needs rig" mostly depends on the weight of the rig and length of time that you need to support said rig, in my opinion.
Anyone can muscle up an overly heavy rig a time or two, but then peformance and quality of shots will start to suffer as you tire.
Smaller rigs had better be...
That's interesting. I'm keeping this bookmarked in the event I ever have an issue. Fingers crossed...
Will probably do my own testing regarding Raw files and trying recovery with some of the aforementioned options and see what happens.
This is good to know, as someone who is still shooting on a C500 II.
I wonder if shooting the Canon Raw would result in the same results? Could the Raw files be recovered in an emergency?
That's so great! Thanks very much for watching. I'm really glad any of that content I've put out is helpful.
I will continue to stand by my love for the R5C. It's a great camera that's super versatile.
I've had luck in the past recovering files using the following software: https://www.easeus.com/brand/data-recovery-mac/drw-mac-version.html
I'm not sure if it would work on CFExpress Type B. I've only ever used it with SD cards before, but it did manage to recover the files when something went...
I remember only having issues with the C200 regarding noise with details that were sitting down in the 0-15 ire range.
It's definitely a camera that likes having a higher-key captured image, and then you just plan to pull it down in post when you're going for something moodier.
But I almost...
