Good question regarding the transmitter vs. the iPhone. I haven't done that direct audio comparison. I would assume they sound the same as long as nothing is clipped on the iPhone audio, but would have to check.
You can set the transmitter to start recording internally immediately upon power...
First quick test with the DCiRX and the TRXLA 2.5 transmitter. Lav mic used was a Deity W.Lav Pro. Using iPad Air for camera and capture device and using the Blackmagic camera app.
No wind protection on the mic, and it was a bit windy out. A little bit of EQ on the lav in post. Other than...
I've got a DJI Mic 2 set. It's been helpful on a few occasions actually. There has been a lot of other companies making versions of the same thing of course.
One of the big things I like about the DJI Mic 2 is the ability to hook up a lav mic to the transmitter. I'm not a fan of having the...
At the moment I just have the RF Saver pushed down as much as humanly possible onto the base of the antenna. And then I have the RF Saver Protector Locker towards the top to keep things from sliding around at all.
Just got the TRXLA2.5 in the mail today. It's a bit smaller than my old G3's in height and definitely less bulky.
Should have the new lav mic connector arriving tomorrow and can finally get to some more testing with the DCiRX and its receiver capabilities.

Some quick tests with the DCiRX into an iPad Air.
No big surprise of course that the boom sounds better than the internal mic.
The impressive part to me is just the ease of use. One usb-c cable from the DCiRX into the iPad Air and then booting up The Blackmagic Camera app and everything...
DCiRX Chronicles continued....
I've got a used Zaxcom TRXLA2.5 coming in the mail soon, so I can finally start working through the Receiver and Mixer capabilities of the DCiRX. (Thanks again @jimfeeley for the heads up there.)
Lav mic workaround for the moment is going to be my Deity W.Lav...
Thanks Jim! I greatly appreciate the info and advice regarding the Mini's audio levels. It has caused me to go back and confirm and adjust some settings.
To answer your question, I did NOT actually send tone on my initial setup with the DCiRX and the Mini, so it was good to get a sound expert's...
Some more DCiRX updates, that nobody is asking for... ;)
I've been doing quite a bit of audio recording direct into the Alexa Mini, using the DCiRX as an onboard preamp driving a Sennheiser MKH 8060.
The sound quality is fantastic to my ears, although I don't have any technical specs to drop...
I'm not quite sure I understand the question.
Are you asking if you can export the total 1980x1188 video in 27 sections? - I would imagine this should be a problem for whomever is going to be playing the video on 27 screens, frankly.
Or are you asking if it's possible to export the video at...
I don't go back and forth between Premiere and Resolve myself.
I do my edits in Resolve nowadays, as I'd moved away from Premiere a few years back when Canon RAW support in Premiere was so bad. I'm not sure if they've improved it since then?
But, I'm sure it would depend on how many clips...
This doesn't directly answer your question, but I like to evaluate software tools based on a "time-saved" cost analysis. If $150 saves me an hour, or two hours, or three, etc. over the course of an edit, or many edits, then it's money well spent.
That being said, Resolve's built-in noise...
DCiRX arrived today. A few initial thoughts:
From a pure size perspective it's crazy how small this thing is. It fits under the top handle of my Mini easily, with plenty of room for a hand to still grab the handle.
Just sticking it on with some velcro at the moment. Which might be how...
Thanks for that info Lenny. That's helpful context.
I probably should have added more info on my response as well, or asked a few more questions. The reality, as I think we've all come across at one time or another, is that Resolve is incredibly dense and there are probably 20 different ways...
If you're shooting on FX9's and FX6's in Cine EI and Slog3 in the standard codecs captured in-camera then the RAW tab is irrelevant for you working in Resolve. It doesn't do anything or affect non-raw image files coming in from those cameras.
Unless you happen to be shooting the FX9 with the...
Good question Jim.
Yeah, you're correct. At the moment I don't have Zaxcom transmitters, but I'm still ok getting the DCiRX at this time. The plan is to move in that direction as soon as I'm able regarding transmitters.
I still think there are enough other features of the DCiRX to make it...
