I've heard that the XLR inputs on the HVX are a little finicky when it comes to selecting Mics. Anyone have experience with this, and/or any recommendations to share. Experiences with any variety of mic (lav, shotgun, whatever) would be helpful.

After seeing them mentioned on here I am thinking of switching my HVX order to Roscor (Camera is 5,370+-). I called to put my name on the list, but they have strange verification policies-- they want bank account info. They seem like a legit place, but maybe are not really set up to deal with...

I don't have my HVX (wait-list) so I can't experiment yet, but it seems to me that noise reduction algorithms could be a big help. There are a few plugins available for FCP that claim to reduce noise by averaging pixels in areas without motion... they must use a system similar to mpeg...
