I have the Nikon D3100 with the kit 18-55mm lens. I also have a Tamron AF 70-300 f/4-5.6 (the cheaper one -- around $170). I'd like to video my son during a track meet. I've tried using the Tamron because I'm usually a good distance away but it is constantly re-focusing and it is quite noisy...
