    Will a G5 ever be able to work with AVCHD?

    Does anyone know if a G5 with FCStudio 2 will ever be able to edit AVCHD or are we just out of luck with our ancient machines?

    component DVD recorders-which one?

    I just picked up a Toshiba DR400. I tested it by recording something from Direct TV. The DVD plays fine in the DVD recoreder, but does not play on my PC, Mac, or either of my DVD players. So I thought it might have some kind of copyright encryption. Then I recorded something from my camcorder...
