That sounds like what I want to do, Morgan. If I'm understanding correctly, once you've decided on framing and triangulate the rigging, you will have 2 arms going into 1 gobo head, correct?
That is indeed a good idea. So good that it's one I currently implement! I use my phone and the panasonic app to change exposure and start and stop record. The problem persists as it's hard to not accidentally jostle the camera with your shoulder, the edge of your hoodie, etc.

Hello, all!
I have some small rigging problems in my studio that I would love some help on.
I film a lot of stuff at a desk over my left shoulder and I have a cage above me that I rig everything to. In order for my camera to get close to me, I use 2 grip arms. The problem is that it attaches...
Alright, I've come up with a solution I'm confident in. Here's the plan:
Above the drop ceiling, there are metal H-beams. I'm going to attach some unistrut to the H-beams with u-bolts. Then, with some strut-nuts, I'll attach some standard klee flanges to the unistrut. From here, I'll drop down...
I've recently moved into a new office space which I will film out of. It has a drop ceiling which makes rigging gear to the ceiling challenging, however, I prefer it because it cuts down on cable clutter on the ground a ton.
My plan is to use scissor mounts for drop ceilings, an extension...
Funny you mention klee fittings, the whole rig is put together with them and some conduit. I did think about removing that force on the arm and recently installed a second bar slightly behind the front bar.
I am just worried that whenever I'd like to do anything other than pan the camera, it...
Hi,
I currently have an over-head rig in my small studio that I attach things to like this.
Currently the gear I'm using is a GH5, a mediocre ballhead, panasonic's 12-35 f/2.8 lens, and an impact super clamp and 3 section impact arm. This works pretty well and it allows me to adjust the...
Attached is a diagram of what I'm trying to do. I'm trying to light a 7ft x 3ft wide desk from above with a Kino Flo (and likely some diffusion in between). My idea was to use two C-stands on either side of the desk, with a nano clamp attached to the baby pin of the C-stand, gripping onto a 1/2"...
I'm planning on have a lighting setup that mixes LED lights with china balls that have CFL's installed in them for filling out a room with light. I know that even though I can dial in the color temp on my LED, the lights won't be identical so I've begun hunting around for a color meter to...
Hey guys,
Looking for some very bright lights to bounce off of a white card or shoot through a lot of diffusion with a budget of about 1.5k (I don't mind spending less money as well:Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)). About 2 years ago, NFS released an article comparing 28 different LED fixtures...
Hi,
I make art videos on youtube and I'm always struggling to make the art show up correctly in video. With a video color checker chart you can address issues with white balance and color shift, but nothing tells me how much I need to saturate/desaturate my image to get it close to reality...
I recently purchased a GH5 for Black Friday coming from a GH4 and wow....the menu has significantly more stuffed into it. I'm going to need to take some time to educate myself. My largest confusion is about the various recording formats, and the impact of using something HLG, v.s. vlog, v.s...
I've never had a drift issue with my GH4 and sound devices mix pre3 until a week ago. In a 20 minute recording, the drift will be 4-5 seconds which is insane. I reset my mix pre3 to factory defaults and am still having the same issue. Any idea what might be causing such a severe drift?

I guess I'm guess curious what the "resulting project size" is supposed to mean. Clearly it doesn't mean what the total transcode is supposed to be.
how can it be that far off?
I like to save off my premiere pro projects with Project Manager. My settings are:
Consolidate and Transcode:
Individual Clips
Quick Time
GoPro CineForm 12 Bit w/Alpha
The original project is around 130GB, Project Manager says it'll be around 16GB, when it actually finishes it's like 500GB...
