When attempting to exit S&Q my FX9 has been locking-up. Can't turn camera off using power switch. I have to disconnect the battery to kill the power and make the camera operable again. Anyone else experiencing this on an FX9? It has happened with different media cards in the camera, so it isn't...
Everyone is a critic, but when the subject is bald / shaved headed I avoid backlighting that makes a hot-spot on top of their head and instead go with more of an edge light, edging the fill-side. Right out of the gate your video had an example that made me cringe a bit.

What a frustrating, maddening experience it was.
Abandoned AF altogether after 2 days of giving it a go. It boned the shot at least 50% of the time.
I found it about as useful as auto-exposure, working satisfactorily in only about 5% of situations. Not dependable enough for professional...
My Fs7 in lightweight-mode. Actually, the footprint was a bit smaller than what is pictured, because I did not have a wireless receiver riding on top. There were no audio-hops to cameras during run & gun. Just a little timecode sync box.
Nothing special there. Just giving the OP an idea of...
Uh...no. Just no. I cannot sit idly by while such blasphemy is disseminated to the unsuspecting. The Cinebags backpack is inarguably the best camera backpack, period. :D And it isn't even close.
Merely looking at images of Think Tank vs Cinebags one can see that the CB is more beefy and...
FX9 overtakes C300 Mark ii in Crews Control survey, giving Sony all three spots on the podium.
The following figures are for “Corporate” production. I don’t think it includes production done in-house for corporations, because Crews Control provides freelance crews and the figures are based...
Well, it’s happened. The window has started to close. It was a good run.
I had my first request for the FX9 along with the directive that the Fs7 is NO LONGER acceptable. It was Netflix, contacting me for EPK / BTS on a film.
So I guess I am going to have to pull the trigger on the FX9. The...
Okay gang. I may have just started a new thing here on DVX. Examination of video and discussion of the techniques employed in the cinematography.
What tricks / techniques are going on in this music video?:
I am particularly curious about the vibrating image effect. You think it is all done...
What are you experiencing with being paid for days where you are required by a client to get COVID testing?
I estimate that roughly only 20% of the time does the client compensate you for the time and for your not being able to take another job that day. The times I was compensated it was $250...
So what's going on here with these shots? By that I mean, there's nothing new here but for some reason these shots are eye-catching. I don't recall any of my own Sony A7 work having this crazily shallow dof. Or, is it less the super-shallow dof that is catching my eye and more the frame rate...
Anyone recall what the "F" means that I am seeing in front of my Fs7's resolution indicator? It reads "F1920X1080". I switched to interlace, then back to progressive, and the "F" went away. But I'd still like to know what it was indicating. Couldn't find it in the Fs7 manual.
I worked with a Producer from NYC shortly after 9/11. I think it was the following Summer. This man, his name is John, is one of the happiest people I've ever met. Smiling all the time. A bounce in his step. I'd been working with John for a week or so when a mutual acquaintance informed me...
