My Focusrite Scarlett Gen 1 is getting flaky. It's (directly) connected to my Mac Studio (and previously to a MacBook Pro). I mainly use it to drive NFMs. Sometimes to record scratch VO and hobby music. Since it's on a Mac, it doesn't/shouldn't need drivers (and hasn't so far...for like a decade...
Ya, Zaxcom had a mockup last year at NAB. Expected within the next couple of months. $1600 announced price. I haven't watched the video... Considering the price of Zaxcom's current (great) transmitters, would be REALLY cool if they brought out some lower-cost, say $800-$1000, transmitters...
Neat idea. But MFT with a 1-inch sensor means I'd want like a 10mm lens or wider (or a 10-24 zoom or whatever)...I think. Still, a cool thing from them. Thanks for mentioning it. Here's their Mission 1 product page: https://gopro.com/en/us/info/mission-1-learnmore
Also, GoPro is a local(ish)...
:-) No worries. Hope something good comes out at NAB... And will be interesting to see what ends up working for you.
But really, you should use a Nagra SN. Pretty easy to strap to a camera, according to those direct cinema guys and gals...
But since sound is at least 50% of the story, it makes sense to spend as much on audio equipment as camera equipment. ;)
And to be clear, as far as anyone knows, MozeGear is out of business. Bummer.
Good luck!
I guess it depends on how your want to record audio. Like do you want to record two channels directly to your ARRI, or do you want double-system sound, with the mix of flexibility and hassle that comes with that approach.
Considering you're recording for/to an ARRI Mini, I'd think I'd consider...
Ya, I don't know what to do with my Theos set. I guess I could sell it, but I feel like I should give a warning to any buyer. What was I thinking?
My Lectro stuff is getting old.
I'm now probably not going to make it to NAB. Been going since 95, only skipping a few years. But at this point, I mainly want to say hi to friends. That's totally great, but alas/hooray I'm kind of busy right now. Still, it is a pretty fun hang.
As for what I want to see: new radio mics from...
I'm not up to date on projectors... But maybe ask in the techtheater subreddit? They're all about live theater, but I lurk there once in a while and strikes me as a good group: https://www.reddit.com/r/techtheatre/
The main mic I know of with the most minimal (to no) rear lobe is the Sanken CSR-2. Never used it, but on the NAB show floor many years ago, it was impressive. Also about $1400. Offhand, I don't know of a reasonably-price option; but there may be one...
Required Minimum Distribution from retirement accounts like IRA, 401(k), etc.
Paul, thanks for your post. My wife will retire soon so we're trying to learn about all this stuff.
