The reason I've heard is that Chromecast and AppleTV devices were only updated to play 24.000 video smoothly within the last five years, while Roku and Amazon Fire Sticks still don't handle it correctly - they'll drop or duplicate a frame every 41~42 seconds, which can cause noticeable judder...

You might already know this trick, but when I want the viewer to be immersed in the video like they're really there, I shoot in a higher framerate like 60 fps, conversely when my intention is to float the audience through a more dreamy story, I shoot in a lower framerate like 23.976

Remember to budget for the big memory cards if you plan to shoot in any of the higher framerates.

I thought the next Sony cine camera was going to be an FX8 to compete with the Canon C400. There were rumors from last summer, and even what appeared to be leaked slides from a presentation last fall. Maybe the rolling shutter from its 12k FF sensor wasn't good enough to compete with the URSA...

The timecode issue with the larger body Alexas is the LCD screen on the side will lag behind what's recorded by a second or two, so if you hold the recorder or slate next to the display it will appear off, but the files are in sync.

I don't know for certain, but there may be a way to fool the ambient light sensor by blocking it with black tape and then with the auto-brightness setting on, it should reduce the backlight to the lowest level.
