I have a TASCAM DR100 MKII and I'm looking for a preamp to reduce the noise level. I have a RODE NTG-2 and the external recorder doesn't have quite enough gain to get clear audio. Would the MM-1 be a good choice for this? If I'm not mistaken, the line-in would allow me to bypass the DR100 MKII's...

I have enough money at the moment to get a DR100 MKII with the NTG2 shotgun mic. I've heard a lot about the gain of this microphone. I'm wondering if I would be better off saving some more and getting a more expensive external recorder (such as the PMD661) or if I'd be better of buying the DR100...
