Firewire burned when I insert cable the wrong way

HELP: problem at the airport with my Camcorder!
It's the first time I travel carrying a "professional camcorder", a Pelican case, a used DVX100A and accessories. At the airport (Casablanca/Morocco) they took my materials until I pay for Taxes!! I'm Moroccan citizen, resident/student at USA, I'm not planing to sale my camcorder, I don't know...
