Going to purchase DVX100B had a few questions.

Hello, I just needed a little bit of advice here. It’s finally come to that time where I take the plunge and invest in a new camera. I’ve been aiming to purchase the HVX200 but slowly started to realize that going for the DVX100B would be a better investment for me at this point, HD is not that significant for me just yet, I’ll wait until the technology is more affordable and in demand.

Please forgive me if my questions are rudimentary.

Besides the native 16:9 mode on the HVX what actual differences are their between the HVX200 and the DVX100B in Standard def mode, not interested in HD at this point.

I mainly want to know if their any major difference in the 24p modes on both camera’s, or if it’s pretty much the same ball park on both.

Thanks for the response in advance.

Pretty much the same if you're talking about DV. The HVX has a little wider lens, a longer telephoto, and a sharper HD-class lens. Other than that, and the native 16:9, for DV to DV they're pretty comparable.

I'd echo that. In my informal viewing tests, shooting DV on both cameras, they looked very similar.

Yeah, as long as the 24p is the same on both cameras then I’m happy.

One more question I had about the 16:9 possibilities on the DVX100B, I know it’s not native or anything, but can I still shoot In squeeze mode and capture it as 16:9 into Premiere and have it treat it as real 16:9? After burning to dvd will it actually display a 16:9 picture on a widescreen TV. And if so then on a standard TV will it just view 16:9 with black bars of course?

Thanks again and sorry for the questions if they seem obvious.

Thanks for the quick responses, this helps me out allot. I'll definetely be picking up a DVX100B preatty soon. Now where to find the best deals in Vancouver Canada.

i live in montreal andi got mine off of Rush from EVS

Give him a shout. Great help, smooth transaction, great camera!

Yea, i heard about EVS, they have a really great reputation. I might just give them a try.

Thanks for the tip.

FYI, I think Rush is on vacation (shooting a project) for another week, or so. But someone else at EVS could probably give you the same DVXUser discount.

Oh wow, i didnt realize such a discount existed!

What does a DVXUser discount invlove, do i just have to let them know i'm part of these boards?

Thanks, excellent, I'm really glad i checked in here before making any seriouse purchases.

Anyhow, what kind of discount should i be expecting for a camera such as this?
