Best All Action Film

hmmm...i feel sheepish. didn't quite read the thread now did I...
All out action I gotta go with my boy Steven Seagal in his first one:

ABOVE THE LAW

terrible plot. amazing action.
 
I'm kinda partial to martial arts for action, so I would go with Enter the Dragon. It is non-stop where it counts.

I liked Mr. and Mrs. Smith a lot, and not even for the "action" elements of it...

I agree with what most people have said:

The Rock, Die Hard, Terminator 2, and Speed are all excellent...(though Speed is less of an action film than the others...)

My favorite director of action would be Mr. Verhoeven, though. Total Recall, Starship Troopers, and Ropocop have all been mentioned and in my mind, they're all great and I can't even seperate them enough to pick a favorite since they're so similar. He doesn't film shoot outs best, or use a camera brilliantly, but he has this hilarious subversive humor and gruesome violence that's really unique...and fun, too, I guess.
 
i'm sorry, but i thought Mr and Mrs Smith was just absolute garbage - i would've walked out of the theater in the middle of it but i was with a girl...

some minor mishaps with Damon Wayans -- but that can be expected because he's...Damon Wayans. He's the only thing that dates this movie. Taylor Negron also kind of sucks as a villain. But goddamn if there ain't some perfect lines in this movie...

Everything Shane Black writes is hilarious. And HE is hilarious in Predator.

Navy Seals (Sheen and Bien). I rented that this weekend; great film.

John, thanks for the support on the thread. I think that there should be at least a couple of action films that are like porn, lots of what you want with no plot.

Here's one I just thought of 'I Come in Peace' (I know others have mentioned Lundren films already)... I need to put that on my list also.

There are a lot of great action films with plot, 'Devils Rejects', 'Matrix', 'Backdraft', but I want something senseless...

American Ninja maybe... Navy Seals has that lull when they go to the funeral and the whole back story of the terrorist; too much plot and emotion. Just my opinion, not looking for a banning.

I gotta agree there. But if you're complaining about too much story, then I guess you're headed to Michael Bay country...The Rock. :kali: :kali: Let's blow some **** up!!! :violent5:
 
Hey Blaine, I actually think "The Rock" is the only Bay film with a decent story. And great action to go along. I love that film.

And yes, "Die Hard" is the king.

Yeah, I hate Michael Bay movies. I have The Rock and The Island, though :embarasse :shocked:

I really think Die Hard was a perfect action movie. It is what all action movies should aspire to.
