Noah Kadner article in Mar/06 American Cinematographer

Check out the March/06 issue of American Cinematographer magazine for an article by DVXUser moderator Noah Kadner talking about his feature film, "Formosa" on pages 24 through 29.

Congratulations, Noah!

Any like to where you can buy it online? They don't carry that down here in the South, or at least I haven't seen it!

*edit*
Nevermind...I'll have to get a subscription.

Congrats Noah!

Thanks for the kudos and please keep your fingers crossed that it helps us get some notice from distributors! :)

WOW Noah, just watched the trailer and it looks really good! I'm anxious to see it...there is a film festival here in Jacksonville, FL and I think the deadline is at the end of March, you should enter. This way I can get a chance to see it on the big screen.

Keep up the good work!

I went to Barnes and Noble last night and they had it...it's in the entertainment section(?), but alas, I go home and I'm thumbing through the pages and I couldn't find the article anywhere, then I look at the cover and it's the Feb issue!

Doh! Looks like I'll have to wait a little longer....

I just picked up my copy at Barnes & Nobles this morning. It's a wonderful and inspiring article! It begins on the third column on p. 24. They used some very resourceful techiques. What is very encouraging to all of us, is that the SDX900 footage slayed actual 35mm (of preceding film) when projected onto the silver screen:

"Our images were pin-sharp and vibrantly colorful, noticeably better than those of the 35mm print, which was soft from edge to edge and visibly grainy and faded."

Nice job!

Congrats Noah. Just out of curiosity... I cant buy that mag in Japan so not sure if it was covered. But would you mind lightly explaining your daily workflow with the dsx900.

Much appreciated if you could.

the first time i met noah was on the disney lot where he was shooting Formosa... it was a while ago, but man did he impress me.

Ok, so 2 days after I buy the Feb American Cinematographer (by mistake) Barnes and Noble now has the March one!!!

Oh well, I read your article Noah, really good stuff. I wanted to jump up and go make a movie, then I realized I had to go back to work:(

Hope I get a chance to see it on the big screen, keep up the good work!

BTW- anyone L.A. who would like to see Formosa is in luck. We are in the San Fernando Valley Film Festival and it's a free screening. Saturday March 25th at 8:30 PM, 4222 Vineland Avenue, North Hollywood, California 91602. All screenings and seminars are free to the public and are shown in the hotel's Beverly Garland Theater.

Come one, come all!

I saw the premier of Formosa at the Garden State Film Festival last year. It's very nicely directed and has some funny scenes in it-- well worth seeing. I was impressed how film-like the image was (it was shot on the SDX900 and then was professionally color corrected). My only disappointment was that Noah doesn't look anything like his avatars, but at least he was gracious and generous with his time. :) Noah, best of luck finding a distributor.
