I put together a website yesterday. It's simple and rough. Don't laugh to death when you see it! I posted a bunch of HVX200 clips on it. I shot the footage on my first day out with the camera and 1 4GB P2 card.

Some of the video files are very big. Please don't try to stream the video clips. Download them by right clicking and choosing SAVE TARGET AS for PC users OR CONTROL click and choosing DOWNLOAD LINKED FILE for MAC users.

It will be interesting to see how many people can download from a $7 a month website. I hope that all the links work. let me know if you have any problems.

The first two minute clip is compressed for the web, but I tried to keep it as high in quality as possible, so it's still a big file. It was shot in 720 24p. I would start with this clip if you are looking for footage. Below it (on the web page) are uncompressed .mov files of some of the same shots in the two minute clip (in case you are looking for uncompressed files to bring into your NLE). The video has not been color corrected.

WARNING: These files will take a long time to download. Don't try them if you are looking for quick satisfaction. I personally don't mind downloading big clips if I can do it in the background while working on other things.
 
I tried to download one, but it said my quicktime was missing some sort of thing to view it, all I can hear is sound, and no image. I dunno why, it works with everything else, it must be your video. :(
 
I downloaded it and really liked it. I was going to ask about the music then saw it was from Soundtrack. Was it all soundtrack loops? If so, you did a great job sewing them together. :thumbsup:

I tested all the clips with my Apple QuickTime Player 7.0.4. They all worked fine. Do you have the latest version? If not, you can go to:

Both Mac and PC versions are available.

If you can't get a Quicktime Player, did you try to load the clip in Final Cut Pro HD or into your NLE? That's the best way to view the single uncompressed files. The uncompressed clips are short and big in file size, but I wanted people with editing systems and HD monitors to be able to see the images untouched. That's what I wanted to see before I got the camera (not small compressed web files).

I made the music in Soundtrack Pro. They were all samples. I find the trick to using that program is to work in the same key and to manually position some of the loops (don't just let them snap into place). It's a fun little program. It's easy to use. You don't need to be a musician, but you do need to have good taste (I'm not saying that I do -- that's up to others to decide). Buying music costs a lot of money. I find that if I spend enough time with that program, I can make decent sounding music that goes with what I am editing. Perhaps someday I can hire someone to score my projects!
 
Great looking stuff. The narrow DOF stuff is great. I wasn't able to load the smaller individual clips. Said the same thing as above. The longer graveyard piece was fine though..

Where did you shoot this? Reminds me a lot of NH where I grew up. I can't wait to do some timelapse at the top of mount washington this summer. that will look awesome... Just hoping I can convince my family to hang out at the top for an hour or two...
 
Thanks. I shot this stuff around Bristol, CT. It's not a very exciting place (although it is the home of ESPN), but large graveyards at the right time of day do offer interesting things do shoot. I hope that I did not upset the dead. They didn't seem to mind.

As far as not being able to watch the short clips, you may need the latest version of Quicktime or you may need to just import the clips directly into an editing system. The small clips are full resolution quicktime movies using the DVCPRO HD output setting (some are 1080 24 and others are 720 24p).

Thanks for posting; it seems the second 1080p shot does not have a link to download from. I think it's the "water pan" shot. Everything else is great:)
 
I added some beach footage at the bottom of my web page. It was shot in 720 24p. I wanted to test out shoting in CINELIKE-V. All of the other footage is Cinelike D. The file is a H264 compressed .mov.

So which cinelike gamma setting do you guys like best (D or V)?

you are my favourite filmaddict and i'd like to watch all the files but to that please give some PC side chance. to laptops that is the majority all over the place has at home, at school, at work, etc

Right now all of the long edited clips on my site are .mov files using H.264 compression. All of the single shot clips are uncompressed .mov clips in the DVCPRO HD 720p 24 setting. I have a mac with Final Cut Pro HD, so these are the easiest files for me to create.

Are you looking for single uncompressed clips or the long compressed clips? Let me know. I would be happy to add a pc clip. What type of file do you want (please tell me as many settings as you can), but before I do that...

Apple does make a quicktime player for pc. Did you download that? Did it work?

The best way to look at the clips is using a non linear editor. Most systems will let you import Quicktime files (I know Avid does). Did you try that?

The other thing to keep in mind is that some people were running into problems because my web hosting company would not let the files completely download. I imagine this is because I've been getting too much traffic. People experienced less problems when my site was first created. If the clips did not fully download, try to download them at another time.
