Sending the Certificate for IDX today. I have one ??

Im got mine at B&H, however they sold me semi old stock, which I told them if the HD100 is not one that came to you in the past few weeks I will pass on theirs. They assured me that it was New! However, my firmware is not the latest and I have SSE on some 0db and all over my higher gain stuff which we use for docs.

Ken Freed as well Stephen Noe assured me SSE is a done issue all the way up to 18db. So that's good news, however I now need to send in my camera and pull it out of work. That's BS!

I asked JVC if it's SW upgrade then why do you need my camera for so many days. I can SW upgrade in minutes to an hour depending on what the gear is. Maybe I am missing something! I will wait for god sakes at the tech center.

And it's raining today in CA and we needed to shoot! Argggggg!

Not so happy at the moment!

Just got my VC 100, with photocopy of IDX Cert.

Just got my VC 100, with photocopy of IDX Cert.

Just got my JVC HD100, and was handed a photocopy of the cert. at B&H
Spoke to someone at the pro video desk who said he would email me one, which he did , but this is just another copy !
They assured me at B&H that this would do.
I spoke to a sales assistant at JVC, who said no way , that I need the Original !
Can this be the start of a beautiful nightmare !
I am shooting a short in three weeks involving a lot of people and a horse .I did buy an extra Battery but I know that this wil not do, and we are going up stste ie no power .
What should I do.

B and H's invoices are all printed invoices. Whatever B and H gave you is the invoice. The original IS the printed invoice. You'll need that printed invoice with the serial number/UPC cut from the box as well as the filled out certificate. This is what the certificate states on the box.

i got mine from B&H and they assured me the copy cert would do fine as well. hmmm those pretty people over there! i better get mine with the photocpoied one they sent me or they are gonna have an earful. at least i have no problems with the camera. firmware is up to date with no dead pixels and CA is at a very low scale. so i'm happy there. but like we all know without power this camera is useless. hmm im starting to get nightmares already.

Bummer Michael !!

I wish there was a way of telling age by the serial number ?

You're in a tough spot. What is B&H return policy?

Also, without them actually taking it out and verifying the firmware version, how will you know if they are sending you a current unit?

I wonder if it would be wise to get one from EVS. Since we know they are out of them and are ordering more units.

Steve, Michael said he's working with JVC directly. They'll probably calibrate and then end of story.

OK...
Well, that's probably the safest bet.

I hear JVC is coming out with another firmware upgrade in a month or so.

I hope they offer the ability to have more the 4 scn files via SD card.
I don't see why that number can't be increased.
The camera is filtering for file names ext 1-4. IMO, all they would need to do is increase that number.

I was referring to the Photocopy of the JVC certificate, no the B&H invoice , on reading the certificate it states that one needs the original certificate , camera serial number cut form box and the original invoice.
So they tell me at JVC I need the original cert , and B&H say that I dont !

Saying all that I have been setting this camera up, and I have noticed so far I am not getting any sound out of it.

I am using my own Me 66 but not a beeb , the screen shows just one doted line,
I have used every possible combination of channels and inputs , but nothing , even tried a wireless lav and receiver.
Sorry to go off the discussion of the certificates, maybe I should just start a new thread , unless I am really stupid and not seeing something in front of me.

When using the onboard mic, set the switch for the mic channel you plugged into to +48.

I believe the Sennheiser ME66 also needs the +48 power.

Jus flip the switch to +48 on the channel on the camera.

Michael- I have a couple of new JVC 100s in the rack at the studio from EVS (we just upgraded our stock). If you're in Costa Mesa, I can fly one down to you and you can meet the plane at at John Wayne's Signatue Air. I think that's the closest to you. Just get it back to me as soon as JVC gets yours to you.

Dang Jonathan! You're number one in this business man!

You really understand the agony that can happen in this business.

Very generous amigo. Cheers!

What do they say, @#%! happens. I was on a shoot with, thankfully, a second camera when the sound in one went out. Well, not out but the soundman was hearing a buzz somewhere from mic to mixer to camera. Eliminating everything before the camera, we switched cams, the buzz left and went on shooting. EVS replaced the camera the next day but not before Randy verified the buzz and called JVC. (it was part of the 5 we ordered about 2 days earlier) JVC stood up for the deal not caring if the headphone circuitry or the sound board was bad or even if it transferred to tape...they just OK'd the replacement then and there so that's the importance of a good retail house and good manufacturer. Anyway, the point is I'm sure JVC will get it back to him immediately but sometimes immediately defined as a couple of days isn't good enough. This Board has great members and we need to support them any way we can. I looked at Pappas' websites and he seems serious about his craft. Anyone like that I'm gonna trust and help until they prove that trust misplaced. Then, if they do, well, this is a very small world and we all need the help of friends in this business so to screw me or anyone else that helps you simply signs your death certificate as far as working in this business...at least in this town. Thanks for the vote of confidence but I think anyone on this Board that has the ability and the proximity, (he's only about 60 or 7o miles down the road and about 10 minutes by air) would do the same. That's why Jared put this Board together...to help others. Oh and Michael...we've got spare IDX kits so power will come with the loaner.

Wow Jonathan! I don't know what to say. You are one stellar individual There is so much support here. Unlike other forums where arguing , anger and personal insults even from mods seems to be norm, in this forum it's about respect and support. Where's my tissue! :..).........

We won't be needing that amazing offer Jonathan, however I hope I can offer an amazing favor like that in return someday....

Seriously this means a lot t me to see this here. In this biz, you find cinematographers have this tight bond, they share an understanding and unique language among them. This board has this too! Thanks to everyone, it's something I'll never forget.

So here's the deal. I talked to Cypres's tech. He told me straight that SSE will never be gone, never, ever. He would look at our HD100 and see what could be done. I asked him then why am I hearing three different stories. He said that it's just not true. My associate's don't like hearing different stories. The HD100 is the best overall camera, It's pro to the bone in my book. My god 5k and you get this absolute loaded production tool!. However my associates look at this from a different angle. About a half hour later I received a call from another JVC person that read my situation on this board. I have no idea how he got my number. He suggested that I return the HD100 to B&H and let them know that this camera should be returned to JVC.

The other thing I didn't mention was the HD100 had about 9 dead pixels at 3db, faintly, however that was not pleasing. But sse was top priority at the moment So I have gotten the RMA and sent it back to B&H via fedex a hour ago.

I'm going to discuss with my associates tonight about our options and where to proceed.

I am disappointed that we heard varying degrees of SSE from so many JVC people. Something needs to be done about this. I hate this unofficial official mixed up in a blender info. We're either producers, directors & DoP's here, we don't need this constant wavering line of it's fixed , it's not fixed, oh now it's fixed again information. Makes your head spin off.

We still want the HD100's for production, it's such an awesome camera. You marvel at it's build just looking at it.The picture when detail is off is just smooth. Love it... However, if we can't get in writing or some type of official standing from JVC and not varying official standings it's going to be hard to proceed. This really sucks, cause the HD100 is so damn bitchin.....

If it means better sync circuits are needed, put them in the HD100 and byte the financial bullet JVC, in the long run you we will sell tons of HD100's , and the HD100 is going to last for years in the market place too- It's that good....

Again thanks guy's , the support means the world to me.

Jonathan, your forum champion of the month!

That's why I couldn't load more than 4. Loved having the SD card file option.

Oh please don't say another firmware coming!
