The worst scifi movie ever I PROMISE

Okay, so i had nothing to do today so i threw together an edit of what was going to be my scifi movie, which turned out as a royal disaster. I have a sense of humor so I'll post it here. I shot it in about an hour and a half because my one actor showed up about 4 hours late and the other one had to leave. So between the poor/super rushed acting and my rushed setups AND my horrible script we had an oscar winner(kidding).

To tell you how much I love this movie, I just edited it today when it was shot on christmas break(in between shooting my first music vid). AND I didnt even bother to give it a title! Also theres a few glitches like a blatant audio clip that i forgot to put in the right spot which I just left in there because it adds to the feeling of the piece(they are fixed now but i refuse to re render).

Anyways, you should watch this if you are bored and want to see what happens when a project goes south and to make yourself feel better about your own stuff being way better than mine. Also I actually cut alot from this because of the preformances and to make it move quicker.

WARNING: this video sucks beyond belief!!!

lol i know....its such a great review everyone should be chomping at the bit to watch!!!! But anyways did u understand the story and the ending and all?

That's less a sci-fi movie and more a dude being a prick to his friend.......right? A last-minute change in the script/plot for aesthetic purposes. ;)

At any rate, you shouldn't be too hard on yourself. I was expecting much worse. :)

yea not really scifi...thats why even if it did come out i wasnt sure if i was gunna submit to the fest.. But the moment i shot it i knew it wasnt gunna get made(i was just bored today and sorta made it haha)

Ok, so it wasn't all that great but it kept me watching. My question is why? Why does he do that to his friend? Just a joke? The lighting was probably my biggest complaint.

in the original story there was some more development on why he did it...pretty much he had abusive parents and wanted to run away and take his friends money but alot of that never really made it. Look at the line where he talks about his stepdad and how cheesy the acting was there...that ended up being almost all ad-libed. But yea lighting wasnt my best because of time(we did the whole thing in an hour and a half and it was originally 9ish pages).

Not that I'm making excuses, the acting being bad was all my fault because I should have called off the whole production. Theres a point where you shouldnt go ahead and shoot and I now know that, with the one kid 4 hours late and the other kid annoyed and needing to leave i shouldnt have even tried. Not like I lost anything though really...just didnt get anything from it.

That's the wrong attitude. At least you edited something today. I wasted my whole day.

And look at it this way; if you've done a bad movie, that's one down, and you're that much closer to making a good one. :)

what I mean by I shouldnt have done it is this: I shouldnt have gone through with the project that day when I should have seen the obstacles. In the end I made my actors miserable by pushing them so hard to get something done when I should have called it off and either tried it another day or just not have done it at all and still had more respect from them and therefore a better chance to get them to act again(although they did get over it and the one is gunna be the lead in my next movie haha)

gotcha

well, the acting wasn't that great. the only thing i really liked about it is the opening jib/crane shot. then it took a plunge after that, hehe.

lol
wsa the main actor the same dude that sings in a music video i saw a while back?

Some of the dialogue was poo poo as well as the acting, but i really liked the editing. Framing was quite off at some places due to the aspect ratio conversion ( a bit more panning and scanning maybe )

Sound was also inconsistant every now and then. And what exactly was used for lighting? lol Super harsh lighting looked really unnatural.

So what exactly was the point of hte story? He videotapes the stock market readings and plays it for a friend who gets money from his dad?

What was in the envolope? Was it cash from the friends dad? Cause if its something like that then i got it and smiled at the end :)

But in all honesty, even wit hthe technical problems with the film, i really did enjoy it and wanted to watch it the whole way through. So definately not the worst video ive ever seen, if anything, i got more into the story of this one because you made me with the editing. Nicely paced.

Yea its the same kid from the music video, and yea the dialogue is pretty bad. I wrote the script and thats a bad thing, also alot of the dialogue ended up being made up using the script as a guideline because of the time we shot it in.

And the lighting was set up incredibly fast for obvious reasons and it was home depot work lights(but that wasnt really the problem), I think there were a few(very few) places where the lighting worked but i think it was just out of luck haha.

The opening crane shot was pretty cool. The main thing is you kept me watching it and for that I'm going to say it didn't suck. As someone said before you're one more film closer to making a masterpiece!
