I got my HD100 yesterday. The camera rocks!

Hi everyone. I got my HD100 yesterday. Wow! What an awesome camera. This thing has pro written all over it in design.

.....................Kudos to JVC......................

The sad part was the SSE is on my camera and can bee seen at times in 0db. I was told that it's gone on all new shipping cameras all the way up to 18db. However B&H sold me old stock even though I asked them to sell me only a camera that was made recently. Regardless, JVC's Ken Freed had called me and there working something out for me to get me taken care of. Ken is great guy that cares and helps.

The lens is awesome. The CA is very minor, and only there if you zoom in and go wide open. This is the same even on top end lenses, No big deal----- cause this camera rocks, and it's awesome.

More to come. I will soon have clips, however it will be after JVC swaps me or etc.

Btw, JVC has been 1000% great so far dealing with me. That goes along way with me.

Thanks to everyone here including Stephen Noe and Dashwood for help and info.

The support that's here among the HD100 users is nice to see. Thanks guys!

Again here... You're welcome Michael! We had misses. What happened? Are you now a HD100 owner?!...

Yes I do own a HD100! For me it's hard to use cameras that are more prosumer driven. I like controls and layouts that are on the bigger cameras we rent or use. The HD100 is al this in smaller package!

The bayonet Fujinon lens is another major one for me. It's a little brother to the bigger lenses I use, like 2/3 and 1/2 however it functions the same.

It's awesome

Michael,

Of course it's great news and glad you one of our group. Can't wait to see content. I'm sure it will be top notch.

all the best amigo...

The JVC is an awesome camera.. in fact its my second choice below the HVX.. they did alot of cool things on that camera, even the focus assist is brilliant. I would use it if I needed to in a heart beat.

That said.. that lens is the most retarded lens i have ever used.

Great news Michael !

I also broke down and bought the HD100. I picked mine up about three weeks ago.

The picture quality is excellent. Sure the lens breathes and has some CA at wide open max tele, but man does it produce very sharp beautiful colors.

I'm looking forward to picking up the JVC firestore when it becomes available this Spring.

SteveT and Pappas,

I think you will enjoy working with these well thought out cameras. I think the JVC marketing guys were listening to customers who needed a Pro camera with dedicated controls. And the JVC engineers delivered pretty good, except for the early batch with the SSE issue.

Pappas if you get them to swap out for a newer camera you will be very happy. I have a newer one and had 0 problems on the test shoot and actual client shoot. It's easy to work just like the Sony and Ikegami pro cameras I've used before.

If you get the IDX certificates, send them quickly to get the battery system back. Good luck gentlemen.

What is this "CA" you speak of?

However if you look at the fact that it costs $800 msrp that's a bargain. Beats the pants right off the Canon XL series lenses in control, function and every thing else minus the OIS.

I heard Canon is coming with 1//3 lenses. That could be very sweet! Or not!

Thanks Stevet.. Congrats to you too! It's 24fps, true progressive ccd's at full raster. Holy cow, it's awesome!

Firestore, indeed!

I was at my friends house down the street Bob Jones of Skycrane.com. We were filming and watching results on their 50" Pioneer Plasma. Very sweet looking..

Chromatic Ab... I swear if they put a better lens the camera would win awards.. But im sure its coming... I mean there where only 3 issues with the HD100.. SSE ( fixed ) Battery ( fixed ) and Lens ( ? )

Im sure Freed will work out the SSE thing for ya Pappas.

I can't wait for the SSE to be gone.. JVC is good to there word, no worries!

The IDX cert goes out monday fedex overnight to them...

What other standard camera batteries can I use, are there 3rd party batteries at fry's that work when I dont want the IDX onboard?
