Shadow Company finally finished.. opening at SXSW

yup.. all DVX, except of course for the random footage grabbed by the insurgents or news crews used as "stock footage"

Shot using one of two DVX's, mine or nicks depending on location, all shot at 24p.

both were 100A's with the exception of the very first interview (because my 100A had not been acquired yet and Jarred was busy doing something else).

All 100A footage shot in-camera squeeze.

Man, that's really cool! Totally grabbed my attention, which is rare (MTV generation. Whaddaya know...)
Since it looks like you had to be pretty mobile I'm curious what kind of microphone setups you used?
Also, you said you went to Africa and London but this movie is about guns for hire in Baghdad... how'd that work out?

There was a camera sent to Baghdad to one of Nicks long time friends that just happend to be a private soldier stationed there (He was pretty much the motivation for the doc if I am correct). He shot some footage by himself, which relieved us from going into the war zone. Being 6' 7" its not like i can blend in and I have a hard time hidding behind rocks.

As for sound, we used wireless lav's for everything, G2 senh... which didnt skip a beat. We had one small issue when we went to Toronto to do an interview in the middle of winter but it was more me and Nicks brains freezing than equipment error.

We had a very very light camera package.. no lights, just the DVX, mics, monopod and a reflector. As expected.. the camera held up from -20 below zero to the extreme heat in Africa.

That's great, Jarred!
Are you planning on being here for SXSW?

If so, I demand to buy you a drink - but only one, because I'm cheap.

For those interested - Here are the dates and times of the screening

I'll definitely go check it out.

thanks for the kudos guys...

thanks for the kudos guys...

our "little" dvx100 project got a little variety shout out earlier this week...but there will be (hopefully) plenty more where that came from.

The camera more than held its own through everything we did with it (even if they think Jarred's monopod was a weapon at the airport in Sierra Leone - until the appropriate "tips" were made)

that's a story for another time.

Look out for an exclusive DVXuser feature outlining our production/post-production workflow coming up at some point soon.

Sounds like a great doc! I've always loved military themed pieces...you'll have to let us know when we can pick it up on DVD, Jarred. Maybe with a little DVXUser discount!

yeah.. im sure me and nick will work something out again lol..

Try and make it to the premier though if you can.. it should be pretty amusing.
