"Bullet of Life" Action Film - more grabs (finally)

I wanted to post some more grabs of this ambitious little short film that I've been working on. Mostly from the final showdown battle scene. Trying to cut down from 45 minutes to 30 minutes!! I was real happy the way the warehouse scene turned out. Very little color correction, just white balanced on warm lights to get the cold blue out of everything. I found out that CCing in camera is much better than in post! Cheers for now...trailer online in God knows when...

Very nicely framed. would love to see soem video. All details as well. Lights used, CC, everything.

thanks gary and papa

lights were home depot lights and china lanterns, color correction, very little - the look was done in camera!

Lee,
Dude,
What was your lighting position and do you have grabs of the whole set up?

For the CC, did you bump up the blue settings in the camera then increased the contrast in post and I believe you used A DVX, right?

Nice grabs, one of the very good ones we have in here.

=D

thanks!

im in NYC now, studying computer animation and visual fx at NYU...I had a friend help me with the lights, in this scene however, we only used 3 chinalanterns hung overhead, and a fluro light for action-oriented shots...

to get the look I white balanced on a warm china lantern and the cold blue fluros took over and gave me the great look. I did very little in post...yes this was most defintely shot with dvx

=)

I would just like to state for the record, that fluros kick ass. your lighting looks sweet.

for most of my work I use fluros, I find they pale the skin and enhance shadows and definintion of peoples faces.

So once again, congrats and a great look dude.

thank you smithhouse and lonearcher =D

xilix, the fluros i used were nothing special, stuff you can find at hardware stores or at Target, walmart. we had a portable fluro on an extension cord inside the warehouse. my lighting guy Richie followed the action with it and since the light is soft and diffuse, I didnt have to worry about shadows being cast as much.

thanks to barry S, I was able to use a portable fluro in a car scene, it attaches to a car adapter which is nice.

Wow, that's sweet looking. Great job, Young. You give great hope to those of us with cheap lighting.

xilix - I picked up some Lights of America flos at Lowe's. They were around $20 a fixture and can run T8 or T12 bulbs. Have electronic ballasts for no hum. I bought the ones that have a "stainless steel look" as the box claims. Basically saved me from having to mirror the insides and only cost a couple bucks more than basic white. If I ever d/l pix off my camera again, I'll stick shots of them in the DIY section.

Back to Young -- when's the footage going up? :)

thanks Jason, yea, footage up...maybe in a few months...heh

xilix, yea, fluros did flicker...to my advantage...i used it as dramatic effect!
