I've been noticing and crazzy amount of noise in my DVX100, is this something that happens after using it for a while? I have about 250hrs of work in it... and the picture at defoult settings event in auto looks very grany, not to mention if I control the settings it gets even worst. Is anyone having this same type of problem? I am afraid to use the camera for a serious project. Should I send it for clean up? I bought the extended warranty from B&H never used. The camera have been a solid tool, never gave me a problem... but it seems to be disteriorating.

Tips, coments?

I know my camera really really well, and there is nothing that should affect the image quality... honestly I have no idea why the amount of noice.

The truth is, I know my camera really really well, and I am sure there is nothing out of the ordinary that should affect the picture quality. But to answer your question, I am positive the gain is not the problem.

How are you capturing this? It almost looks like this is at half resolution. It might be more of a computer/software problem than the cam, UNLESS you are seeing this GRAIN on a telly aswell of course.

vidled,
I am capturing via firewire into my external Lacie drive using FCPHD. I know it is not a computer issue. I can see the noice very clearly even in LCD.

I have notice the same in many of the footage post here.

Have you viewed the footage on a TV or studio monitor? I've noticed that the LCD screen on the DVX can display a fair amount of noise that is not nearly as present when viewed on a monitor or TV. This seems to be a different problem than what you are experiencing, but that's just something I have noticed.

Part of the reason for that (noisier LCD) is if you have EVF DTL turned on. The peaking circuitry can sharpen the edges of the noise in the image making it look a lot noisier than it actually is.

Hmm....good point Barry. I don't believe I've ever turned that on, but it is something to check. Thanks. :D
