My first short film, Bound and Gagged

for your first film I thought you did a good job, and you have the imagination to to something reallly disturbing... looking forward to film number 2

You forgot something. A story. What I saw was a vignette of gratuitous violence that seemed to have no other purpose but to revel in its own excesses. It was like being a voyeur to a serial killer. I have no problem with violence or horror when executed within the bounds of interesting story. But without any insight into motivation or context what you've created is a series of clips not much different to a snuff picture, but in no way a story. But that's just my opinion and others seem to have liked it.

Thanks for the comments everyone :) I'm working hard on my second project right now, no "beyond poor taste", or "violence porn" in the next one. So look forward to that, though it's going to be a while before I can show anything. It's still in the conceptual phase, but I'm excited about it none the less. But please keep the comments coming, I can take your criticism and work on putting it towards future endeavors. Good or bad keep em coming!

I'm anxious to see what you come up with next... That was some pretty messed up stuff. I'm glad you have an outlet in your filmmaking cuz no telling what must be going through your head :)

cheers and keep shooting

I wouldnt actually call this a short film, because the way i see it, it had no point! It was just a torture scene! I was waiting for a twist at the end or something, but it never came! Most of the technical stuff was good, and if this was a scene from a bigger movie it would have been good. a little more work on the audio and this would have been great!

You did so many things right with this. The small-scale lighting, the cheap props that don't look cheap, the enclosed space. Also, nice off-angle shot of the actor's neck.

Not much story, but I'm guessing this is just one scene from your script.

PS: I called the Police on you.:engel017:

Pretty messed up, my man, but you have some nice creative shots in there. I specifically liked the immediate cutaway shot to outside of the basement, showing the scene from the exterior with less sound, and the shot inside the trunk of the car was very well done. And, I don't think the acting was bad at all. I thought it was well done, minus all the little mistakes cited above.
