Hey guys

Have just posted my film online which is a first so please check it out. I have uploaded two new more compressed versions which will hopefully work better for everyone.
Check it out at http://www.shearwater.nsw.edu.au:16080/~eliotb/

The Low quality version is 200 kilo bytes per second and the high quality is 400.

Regards

Hey Eliot, I havn't downloaded your flic yet because of the size...but if you are using QT7, H.264, then simply lower the bit rate to about 500, the picture will still look great and the file will be much lower and easier to download...

The files are taking too long to load... however I am waiting...
I just saw the first 10 seconds and loved what I saw. It looks like its worth waiting for the entire video to finish pre-loading. While we wait, what is the title of this project? What is it about? What was your involvement and why you did it?

Eliot,
Congratulations; Bravisimo!

I loved it, I think you have an award winning short film here. I liked a lot. The story, the editing, the cinematography and most* of the acting, all of these were top-notch indie work. Your lead actor was great! compliment him on my part.

Keep on doing this you are good at it.

Cheers

The titles is "LO-BI". I made it with the teachers and students at the school where i teach film and multimedia so all the actors are teachers. The lead is Tony Van Den Driest who's head of the D&T department and this was the first film he's acted in.
I wrote/directed/edited and wrote and performed the musical soundtrack. We made it for the Tropfest but it was not selected which i am rather annoyed about as i feel it is pretty darn good for a $70 film.
I'm the cowboy at the checkout by the way.

Ah! that explains it all :)

Thats too bad it was not accepted at the Tropfest, they are missing out. Keep submiting to other fest, I am sure it will be picked up somewhere.

So you are one of those (like me) multi task or 'jack or all trades' director? What was it like assuming so much responsibility in the production?

Also, which cowboy are you referring to, the one with the the coins or the one with the shopping cart?

The ones with the coins.
I am somewhat of a jack of all trades. I have just submitted it to the San Fran Short Film Comp. It was easy assuming the responsibility cause it was not very serious. Just working with my friends and fellow staff members.

Watched about a third of it so far (as it downloads....) but I like it already! Definitely work on the compression so others can see it because I'm sure they are going to want to. Great job. Can't wait to see the rest (as soon as it finishes downloading.....).

Well while I wait for it to keep downloading would you mind sharing some of your production info:
- What were your camera settings?
- Lighting equipment used?
- Dolly/track used? (some of those shots were smooth...)
- Audio equipment used?
- Crew size/Production length
- Post production (CC used?)

-I used the default F6 file with -3 detail and cine like V gamma.
-No lighting equipment except for night shots which where just floods that the ambulance workers had on their trucks.
-We made a dolly using 16 rollerblade wheels running along pipe.
-I used my Rode condensor mic which was a disarster. Dubbed the supermarket scene.
-I was the only crew apart from we had one guy hold the mic on one night of shooting.
No color correction was used. Edited in Final Cut Pro.

This is a great short you have here. I loved the fantasy sequence he takes when he bends down to pick up the cigarette. Well done!

(btw-I live in that fantasy headspace all day)

:D
