Recording VHS through DVX inputs in VCR mode

I seem to be getting sound into the DVX via the side inputs but no picture. Also, I can't figure out how to record after I get a picture.

I suppose someone is going to tell me that this isn't possible because the camera won't do the analog to digital conversion???

Help me. I am crying like a baby thrown in a dumpster. :(
 
VCR mode - Use the remote Record button or the buttons on top of the camera under the handle, not the "record" button used when shooting....
 
I figured out the picture issue so I am getting picture to the camera. However, I still can't get the camera to record anything from VCR mode. I've tried the record button on the left side of the camera which is behind the view finder screen, the record button on the back, and the record button on the top of the handle. I may of lost the remote...still looking...

Am I doing something wrong here?
 
I discovered that I have to press both buttons on the side of the camera to begin recording. I have to press the red record button and the button next to it. However, I cannot figure out how to stop the camera from recording. Pressing those two buttons again does not stop recording and neither does the other two record buttons on the camera.
 
Okay. I figured out how to stop recording using the four way joystick button just above the record button.

Hopefully my stupid rambling posts will help another newbie in the future. :)

Is there any way to turn down the audio signal coming from the VCR? Can I bring the record levels down from the input on the camera?
