One day HVX200 Class at Moviola, Hollywood

495 bucks. That's like 495 Frosties... and actually 10 percent of what the camera is costing me. Seems like a steep price considering the cam just came out.... So if they get 3 people checking it out.. Not a bad day.

Why not just rent the darn thing and f around with it yourself. There's a place here renting the cam for 250 a day.

I prefer to think of it as 495 Wendy's Jr. Bacon Cheeseburgers, but yes, it is steep.

I think it would be worth it with a good teacher who could address some of the questions posted on this site and if I came out of the class with quick notes to get the best image in different conditions, I'd be happy with it.

I've already bought my camera and it's at the UPS station waiting to be delivered Monday or, if I'm lucky, today. (I love tracking codes!)

Mike.. congrats on your cam arriving. Will the ship on Monday though.. as it's a holiday, or so the wife has told me. Everyday is a holiday for me! So, who did you buy your cam with? I"m still waiting and waiting... and waiting. Maybe I should forget the frosties.. order that Canon that comes with the box of steaks... Yummie.

Let us know how the seminar turns out. I've been to some that were amazing and I learned a whole bunch.. and then others were very disappointing. Moviola does seem to be up on the HVX though and seem like very knowleable people. A few of my buddies were shooting some stuff for them at the DVexpo in LA.

I'd say that I prefer the doublestack but since it's a 1.29 I might not get as much beef for the buck...

i'd be willing to fork up $495 if barry green was teaching the class at some facility such as evs...hint hint... :D

what?

what?

500 bucks!!!!!!

Geez......Brins in the past has given these type of seminars for free for very low rates!

I'd check with Birns & Sawyer first to see if they will be offering such a class, and perhaps other dealers as well.

Otherwise, I think I'd just start calling everyone in town that already own one and offer to AC for them for a day for free just to get the experience with it.

I think Barry's soon-to-be released HVX book will be a better bargain than most of what has been discussed so far on this thread.

I don't think Barry is into teaching any private classes. I already asked and haven't heard back. :(

Barry,

I was thinking the same thing... if you or Jared would hold a seminar or such... but what about taking it a step further and videotaping the class and then making a DVD or some webstreaming. I'm pretty much down to throw down the cash right now. I'm doing something similar for my kungfu instructor... A small master class series with a DVD to follow from the class.

Could be a companion for the book... I think it would pay for quite a lot of Frosties.... and archive it for the DVD tech to catch up....

Seems like a couple of months back Jan had asked if there was interest in a "mini" varicam camp (for the HVX). Hopefully something will come of that once a good supply of cameras have been delivered . . . I'd certainly want to take advantage of that.

Okay. My camera arrived today. I need the class. I admit it: I'm intimidated!

I never owned a DVX; I'm jumping from a Canon GL-1 to this camera. The HVX has more doo-dads than than the White House Christmas Tree.

I think the course at Moviola is a little vague on what it covers, wish I knew what qualifications the instructor has. I'll give an update after I call tomorrow.

By the way, BARRY: If you are speaking at an event, I'll come to that too.

Looking forward to your book.
