based on Harry Potter... new short

Here is another short "skit" i created. It's like a copy of Harry Potter (and the goblet of fire). I made this for a girl's 12th birthday bash. So we called it Loni Potter. This scene is the opening scene of the skit where dumbledore tells ron, hermoine and loni potter what their first out of three missions is. I will try to post more later. Can I get some feedback please. I wrote the script, directed, chose the costumes, and turned that dining room into the "Great Hall". I know the sound is far from perfect but it was a long night so sorry...

This is like a littl "movie poster" i made for it...

And here is the opening scene...make the window smaller so it's better quality...and also that's my house.

And here is the music video-Hilary Duff "Beat of my heart" song...i posted it earlier but it was a bad link and bad quality so here it is....make the window smaller so it's better quality

hmm, was really way too small to see any details, even if it is higher quality.

Color correction was way overdone but it still added some flavour.

concerning the size of the video-i export it using adobe encoder in premiere and thats the only size it exports as---the color i know was overdone but i did it to give it a nice feel and tone...what about the movie poster?

Hey videoav.
Nice work, and love the accents! Everyone put in their best effort, and that is very commendable.
Your editing is good, and composition and cam work is very good.
Naturally we aren't looking at actors here, so as far as your directing and writing: you should take that into account: e.g. simple, and relatively easy to execute lines.
Work on the audio, and post again if you have something new!
Poster was great, by the way.

Thanks...yes i have much more of that it's entire length is like 21 min. Anyone else??? I need some feedback. I have no training in any of this. No school or anything.

I think you have a great amount of talent videoav. I watched this earilier, commented and now watched again, only this time with headphones on. It's not very often that I watch a posted vid twice. I liked the actors quite a lot, they just seemed to go with the story so well. Special effects....great, lighting....excellent, composition and editing....excellent, storyline....it's got my interest and I'm anxious to see more.

You did an awesome job with the poster which I hadn't looked at this morning.

Congrats and keep up the great work!

Marlene

Thank you i will deff. post more if you want but im not really getting any feedback from other viewers. Why do u think this is?

i wouldnt waste your time on already made stuff, what brings out true filmmaking is your imagination with your story and your ideas, not an adaptation from others. good job though.

Avery....I disagree. I think that there is a lot to be learned by mimicking what's already been made. Hollywood has been doing it for many years. When we admire a filmmakers work or a particular film and we seek to create something along the same storyline or techniques, then we are pushed into working above our current level. And not every great filmmaker is also the one with the imagination to come up with an origianl story. If you happen to be one of the few that has the imagination to write an original story, do the screenplay, find the actors, find the locations, do the sound, be the director, the filmaker and the editor.....then you are indeed one very talented individual, as those abilities all wrapped together are rare.

And I wonder too why this thread was moved.

Thanks...I wasn't really creating a copy of Harry Potter. I was taking the idea of the 3 challenges and incorporated practical things that my house goes through....except the fire guarded door of course. Anyway does anybody else want to critisiZze my work...I really need it. Also the music video or the poster,.

you think its better or worse?? expand mr. hudson im only 17 years old i need some more information. thanks. btw i have no lenses or adapters...its just my eye and the camera and a few hours of me colr correcting (not like i know what im doing. i have no training)

I stand corrected; forgive me.

Well then; we need to work on some photography basics. Exposure is always nice. Focus is even better.

well. id agree with hudson. Photography basics. The best way to learn this is to watch your favorite movies. Shoot, watch harry potter and try to mimic some of the ways the shots are set up. Where everyone is in the frame and watch how the camera moves relative to the charachters and the set.

Learning film is all practice. There is only so much you can read about online.

Good luck filmmaking!

It may just be blurry because its small and not such great quality. I think I was in focus the entire time. I tried keeping the scene on the darker side trying to get a candle lit look...or even just an old very antique looking.
