What is everyone's day job?

Work in sales for a tour company full time, part time staffer at the local church (over the media ministry...OH YEAH!!!!)

I teach college courses in cinematography, video production, audio production & some interesting MBA level business courses too!

...what's that line, those that can do ...and the others teach!

(Don't fear) the Reaper by Blue Oyster Cult! It's the only tune I know. The cowbell is a very complicated instrument to master. I'm looking forward to learning the opening of Honky Tonk Women later this year.

Pookie what arri do you typically fly? and how do you like the little DVX with it's big German Brother?

My basic setup us shooting with an Arriflex 435 Xtreme, a great 35mm camera. Unfortunatly, comparing it to the DVX is a little tricky, but the DVX is a very good camera, and a damn lot lighter....

I'm a writers assistant for the tv show "malcolm in the middle." spend lots of time in a big room with writers, listening to them hammer out scripts. the rest of the time I shoot nerf darts at my coworkers.

Thanks Pookie, yes it is a stretch to compare the two but I thought I'd try! You have got to be in buff shape to do your job. You must live part time at the gym or write lots of checks to the chiropractor.

Bill what a cool job!!!! ...shooting nerf balls... almost as good as driving the Goodyear Blimp!

...actually writing is the gateway to directing and getting the whole movie thing rolling. I love writers & actors. That's where I feel most at home, among the insane. Sounds like a cool job.

I am in the process of starting up our production company, Crystal Eye Entertainment, LLC and doing all the pre-production and research for our first major project:
Southern Gentleman, Southern Journalist, Southern Courage and the Fight for Civil Rights: The Story of Ira B. Harkey. Here's the website showing the documentary in progress on the website of our Fiscal Sponsor. http://www.okeefeedu.org/main.html I am also in the process of building our own website for both Crystal Eye and the Ira Harkey project. I am fortunate enough to have a hubby that has the "real" job so that I can dedicate my time to this. (Though he has a pretty interesting day job in itself!)

If anyone would like to check out some of the other publicity not listed on the Sponsor's website that we have started garnering, here's some websites:

Pookie you and your two friends on the right look like your having fun. Do all those straps on your leg help steady the camera?

....just kidding.

I was hired to be a contract video editor for a large government institution, but that position has grown somewhat and I am now also the event coordinator, the audio/visual team leader and video teleconferencing supervisor/engineer.

Six months ago, I knew nothing about VTC and now I'm the senior video teleconferencing engineer. I'm responsable for upgrading and repairing a half-legacy, multi-million dollar, multi-site integrated VTC system that is in varying stages of functionality. Because I opened my big fat mouth and offered to assist the repair efforts, I'm now spending my days opening tickets for T1 lines, editing MPU, CSU and VSU configurations, hammering at AMX control systems, and fielding tech support calls from field sites.

Oh yeah, and I still have editing to do...

For those of you just starting out, the life lession is:

Before you offer to help "pick up the slack", understand how much slack there is.
