DV Filmaker 2.0 software..anyone use it?

Hey everyone,

Got a question...a friend of mine has a pd-150..and he loves my dvx100a, but he doesn't want to spend the money to upgrade to the dvx. I told him about the DV Filmaker 2.0 software that sponsors this site. Has anyone ever used the software to convert 30fps to 24fps..and if so...how does it compare to the dvx 24p footage..ie over all quality.

I hear it's the next best thing to 24p. I tried the demo out and the 24fps footage looks really good...better and sharper than you can fake in after effects, but the motion artifacts are incredibly obvious on still frames.

Btw, it doesn't work too well with 30fps footage, only 60i, but since the pd-150 only shoots 15p and 60i I assume that's what you meant.

Easy way to find out -- you can download a free demo version.

In fact, if you wouldn't mind, it'd be great if you guys could do exactly that -- bring the cameras together, shoot the exact same scene with both (DVX in 24P, PD150 in 60i) and then run the PD150 footage through DVFilm Maker software and post the results. I bet a lot of people here, and on Sony forums, would love to see such a direct comparison!

but im not sure if the video posted there shows thw pd150 footgae after conversion to 24p or not.. but at any rate the imagery isnt going to get any better cause th frame rate changes..

id still like someone to do it just so hat we can post it here in a sticky post, and shrug off all the pd150/170 debates ..lol

..k efter reading it again it looks like the pd150 was converted to 24p -for the final conlusionary testing.. obviously would not be as clear or sharp after deinterlacing, and the loss of resolution either..

The PD150 was not converted to 24P, it was left at 60i, that was the whole point of the DVD.

They did blow it up to film afterwards, so there would have been some 24P conversion done at that point. But on the DVD that ProMax distributed, the PD150 footage was in 60i mode.

.. your right, the vid on the web is likely to be from the dvd. i just couldnt check the frame rate from this comp.  :P
